AA is doing the same with the RAH flying. 80's are covering 175 flying.

Who has more total retirements, Delta or United?

Okay, but of the two (Delta or United) who has the most retirements. I asked as there is still hope maybe with this Delta, order that United might also be close to a deal too. Less regional jobs (C-Series is an RJ killer) means more mainline jobs. UAL & DAL being my top picks.

American so far seems far less interested in the C-Series. And far more interested in 76 seat jets at the regional level, and the flow up to mainline.

It's likely that DCI is reduced to only XJT, and Skywest due to their required presence in some markets. They have the government subsidized flying, and the ATL gates.
Just because a regional does some EAS flying doesn't mean they're immune from being cut by a mainline parter (see: Silver Airways and United). Best case scenario a pro rate deal may be agreed upon. Otherwise the airline may have to do it alone (again look at Silver).

Also, if you think Delta is going to let a few gates dictate their business model then you truly don't know Delta. Optimism is good but the scenario you mention is likely a pipe dream.

Keep in mind that while Delta is taking on small narrowbodies to replace MD80's and 50-seaters, it's unfortunately doing everything it can to outsource the best-paying top-end widebody jobs too. If you want a good career at mainline, gotta stay focused on the whole picture, not just getting there.

Delta replacing md80's? I think not, not if they are picking up the newest of the AA MD80's as they get retired.
