Some of you may have been sold on that quick upgrade and cpp to united but probably looking at another decade at a regional.
Even more obvious is a lack of understanding of the role of a business. Business exists solely to make a profit for the owners. Business does not exist to support families, guarantee a future, or provide for anyone. Pilots, just like employees of any other type of business owe those things to themselves. Pilots must always have a plan B just like any other person. It is not the role of a business to supply your plan B.

As much as all of this sucks, it is the result of the free market and freedom. You can have freedom or you can have security. You cannot have both.

I think everyone understands these are difficult times and that furloughs are a part of this industry . A business model where a company cares for its workers is just as important as making a profit. Look at the Southwest business model. Happy caring workers are more productive. AirWis. Is demanding every concession from its employees, taking advantage of their vulnerabilities. In my humble opinion, the company is unethical, and, yes, those who are unhappy will certainly move on when things get better...

Also, I never said that a business' first job is to provide for the worker's families. I said that we shouldn't be wishing for unnessary furloughs or additional company shutdowns in the future because of the people that affects. We all recognize these are tough times, but the fewer pilots that get furloughed the quicker we can all get through this.

If you think that Southwest will not furlough if it becomes necessary you have a lot to learn about business and the world. The "happy family" at Southwest only goes as far as its profitability. GK feels that he can come out of this thing gaining market share. If that market shrinks to the point that Southwest has too many pilots furloughs will ensue.

Thanks for the lecture on free markets. I'll be sure to think about it the next time we bail out the banks and auto makers.

Since there was a LOA for 2 months of reduced credit for no furloughs can we get those 2 months added on to the back side of cares money? (October and November) I mean the LOA period was covered by the cares act and the company took money so they couldn’t furlough us anyways. We gave them 2 months of cost saving while they took the money, it’s only fair to get that 2 months of furlough protection since we gave them 2 months of savings.... one could only hope, I’m sure that savings went to “cost reduction bonuses” to management.

Southwest started down after Herb left the building. Worse - they have an accountant for a CEO in GK. Not a visionary
