Hiring Again?!

I don't think anyone is taking it personally.
We all evaluate the positives and negatives. Some of us aren't desperate for a job while others are. I have a good career and time so I can be picky.
Flying older 200s, for a single carrier that says they don't want them anymore, out of a base I wouldn't like to commute to, for a company that I hear widely different opinions regarding their training department, that has decided the CJOs from airman trainees and the promise of "priority" when it comes to hiring again is thrown out the window to save a couple grand in ATP costs all while getting bailed out by my future tax dollars just solidifies my choice to wait for some place else to start hiring.

I hope people remember how various airlines treated their labor force during the pandemic when considering future employment.

spare your drama. I’m sorry, but AT’s and CJO’s don’t mean squat until you’re in INDOC. There’s a reason they are called “conditional” offers. The current economic climate points to airlines needing to save costs. If I was hiring, yeah, I’d hire an ex 121 guy who isn’t as big of a training risk over a CFI too. It sounds harsh, but that’s business. You think the guys who got screwed by 3407 and the 1500 hr rule thought it was fair? It added 3 years to my timeline. You get up, dust yourself off, take a deep breath, maybe have a cold beer, then revaluate and come up with a new plan.

For real, suck it up buttercup.
I had a regional job pulled from me when the 1500 hr rule went into effect. I had under 500 hours at the time and CJO. Did it blow sure did. What did I do? Moved on with my life, instead of complaining about it.

I was referring to pilots getting furloughed, etc.
This is not a competition who had it worse, I think almost everyone has been hit by this during the past year.

So airlines are supposed to keep pilots on payroll when there is no flying? Is that what you mean when you say, "how companies treat pilots"? Businesses aren't charities.

I chose OO for various reasons, but the first question I asked was “why does SkyWest not offer a bonus when every other regional does”. I found the answer, and I liked it, so I made a decision that was best for me.

I understand how businesses operate, but there is a big difference how various airlines treated their employees. Just look at all the different airline forums and you'll see the difference.
Look, all I am saying is the previous advice of "choose the first class available" might not be the best when things are starting back up.

They are currently hiring back people who had scheduled 2020 class dates. With that said they don't have their in house ATP/CTP program running just yet. Email simply says "as the year goes on, we do expect to resume the ATP/CTP program". Sadly me and many others with 2020 class dates don't have that cert sitting around. Im guessing it is due to the simulators being used for other training but that is an outsiders speculation. Really hope its up soon. Trying to figure if I should just go to ATP and get it myself. If its going to take the better part of this year to get that back up and running, then I would rather just get it on my own dime. Im more the ready to get into a jet after waiting a years time.
