Since your apparently in the Air Wisconsin training department can you comment as to why in a recent newire class made up of six new hires, why only one made it through successfully? You can't blame that all on the pilots, this reeks of significant Air Wisconsin training program deficiencies in their new hire training program.

Standards? Being asked how much the battery weighs during an oral should be consodered having standards? I remember during recurrent a few years ago being asked what wiring was behind a certain panel. Who the F cares!
My new hire class in 2014 passed 7 of 8. The training department wasn't perfect but it wasn't terrible either.

The guy that was asked how much the battery weighed didn't know 1 answer to any question, so was asked a ridiculous question as more or less a joke. He failed needless to say. Awac has standards. Can't make it through here go to mesa or some other regional that only requires a pulse.

And the junior manning / reroutes are back in full force. My lineholder status means nothing, and the lines for next month are horrendous. We got a teaser of a decent month or two with the reduced flying, Now the status quo has returned. People are in class and more are coming, but it's going to take some serious hiring to offset the lack of staffing, especially once the summer rush hits. Get ready for a long few months, ladies and gentlemen.

Unless things have changed radically, the best training I've ever received was at Air Whisky. I've since flown all over the world and now work for a US major that prides itself on its training and I still think AWAC did the best job.
They have high standards but do the work, meet them half way and they'll give you all the support you need.

The battery weights have been asked for over a decade. I'm not sure why they ask that, either it's to see if you bothered memorizing the weights or to see if you know which one is bigger. Not that it should matter either. I dunno. I agree it's kinda a superfluous question but it was never a make/break question either.
If you knew the IAC and limitations cold, you were pretty much good to go. Everything else was just for a formality.
