Don’t rock the boat y’all. I’m just happy to drive to work and live in Gig Harbor, the happiest place on earth. I never thought I’d make this much money and fly for a legacy. I’m perfectly fine making much less than my peers because I make up for it through premium trips. Boy, did I score big while the JCBA negotiations were going on. It was like taking candy from a baby!
I also have a sweet gig with the union, thereby having the privilege to massage my schedule. My resume will surely land me a position in management one day and may even get me a legend status. I’m thinking of running for the negotiating committee and I’m possitive that my inner circle buddies will approve. Ya know, we take care of each other. Oh wait, is that my phone ringing? Gotta go boys ‘n girls. Sweet, it’s BM wanting info on today’s union meeting. Fly safe and be sure to take care of your people and we’ll take care of you!

$115/Trip pay 2nd yr. Why sugar coat it? And their retirement isn’t at 16% yet. I’m on 7th yr pay already which means I’ll be 156.46/hr on April 1, 232.22 if I take the already bypassed upgrade. Sorry but that’s a paycut and for several years. At SW you will be a FO a long time, and that’s fact based on retirements and growth figures. AirTran was a young pilot group. If you’ve been at AS 1-3 yrs then it probably is just a 1 yr paycut. But not in my case. I don’t see myself willingly leaving one domestic only 737 loving airline for another domestic only 737 airline to do the same 2-5 leg days where the break even point is several years into the future.

As a 7th yr guy I think one would be silly to have an app at SW. Maybe at less longevity, not when you’re already more than half way up the pay ladder and can hold CA here. Everyone’s boat is different but in my case the only places worth leaving for now are the big 3. YMMV

Only 2nd year here and LAX based. It is difficult to get more days off when we have lines built with 10 days off.. 14 seems pretty consistent and occasionally if I get lucky in step trading I get 15 or 16 off.

I understand that with seniority will come days off... the point of my post was just to reply to ShyGuy and compare that my friends at UAL and SWA at 2nd year are bringing home more money and have more days off.

Yeah, you're right, I didn't know how long you've been here. I was assuming less... I agree anyone Year 1-3 I think it would just be first year pay that would be a pay cut. I also don't want to leave one 737 operator for another.

And don’t forget, SWA is opening an LAX base.

Your W2/TAFB would be a joke compared to a 7 year SWA FO

He's talking about starting over at year 1 at SWA. No one is talking about comparing 7 year at AS and 7 year at SWA. He's just saying it would take a very long time to get back what he or she will lose if they start back at year 1 at SWA. Especially when he passed up upgrade and could be be a 7 year CA. You should look at a 7 year CA at VX/AS vs a 7 year CA.... I mean 7 year FO at SWA (based on the upgrade time) and see if their W2 is still a joke.

Fairly easily. Some can come close in year 1.

And most of their 7 yr FO’s... or even some 3-4 year FO’s make our CA W-2’s look bad.

Ok, I will bite. I hear this all the time when you are upset you way over “green” the neighbors lawn and pour ground clear on your own.
I have buddies at ever major airline. There are great things if you pick and choose at each and every carrier.
You hear stories about an FO at Delta that made 400,000 and we make it every FO. The #1 FO at SWA in DAL stories... well it’s always changing I hear 350,000- to 600,000, I guess you pick the fish story. There are always exceptions and those who really game the system. There is always someone who has a better deal then you. So I will get flogged for this but let me post numbers I know to be true...

A good friend of mine at SWA made 348,XXX in 2017 he had on average 2.5 more days a month then I so yes I would prefer his company’s scheduling package.

I made 329,XXX in 2017

In 2018 he thinks he will make 385,000
And I should make 379,000. I just got off the phone with him and he said he would gladly take my W2 for both years if I gave him my A plan. I said throw in your scheduling package and I will think about it... the more I think about it the less convinced I really want to trade. In 25 years we can check back, I honestly hope he does better, he is a great guy. But we will both have done OK.

Shy is an idiot to leave ALK... He will have a great career here. 8/10 FO’s on the VX side are trying to leave ALK.... I am sorry, that is a lie. Grow up we all have good jobs in the end someone will have a better one but we will all be fine.

2020 negotiate some improvements, my buddy says he would like to pattern bargain on top of us for a change!
Oh and he says every cranky SWA FO is leaving for Delta because SWA sucks!

You must be a check airman. 265 x 90 hours/month for 12 months would be $286,200. Unless you are one of the guys who flys on his vacation and/or are one of the rare guys who can actually pick up premium all the time. Our Check Airman override would put you at close to the numbers you said you made/are going to make...

I wonder... Is your buddy at SWA a check airman?
