From the Southwest msg board....

Well, we have a little over a dozen former Boeing guys that jump over to the Airbus to finally have a SFO domicile. I’m one of them. I’m puzzled that the company isn’t talking about closing the FA’s SFO base and am curious how they differ from the pilots? I have reached out to my LEC and our MEC to find ways to save the domicile. Time will tell. Also I hope the pilot group understands that if the base does close, it will affect every base with displacement’s and possibly downgrades. My hope is a 737 Bay Base. Fingers crossed.
There is no reason with SFO, OAK, and SJC so close together, ALL served by AS mainline, that it shouldn't be a co-domicile. The amount of overnights at all 3, and the amount of pilots who want to stay bay area based, absolutely justifies the need.

The company really wants just 4 bases, maybe a 5th in 2025 out of SAN. That is way way out there though and subject to lots of change.

So am I, it’s about 💵💵💵💵, it always is. You probably already know this but RSV costs for pilots are significantly more then for FA’s. I have heard the company believes closing SFO will generate 5-7 million a year in savings, 22-30 CA’s and FO’s. I hope they keep it open but at this point I am almost positive it’s gone. Seniority will not change much, the middle to back of the bus CA’s will enjoy a little boost, the more senior Bus CA’s will take a haircut. It will all be fine in the end. I see “0” downgrades from this, but if it happens, that is the seniority game. I still have my fingers crossed it stays open though.

It was said earlier that next summer would be likely. Not crazy about going through another merger, I won’t lie...

Agree with you, but remember it's just an anonymous aviation chat board. Same guy said we wouldn't hire until 2023 or 24 I can't remember and don't care. Not criticizing him or trying to "throw him under the bus", but what he says is certainly not gospel. I like these boards and I treat them like college football preseason polls, they're really fun, but hardly ever accurate!

He also said in 2020 we would furlough for sure, 100%, no question about it done deal. And then he PMed a junior pilot on here saying he's gonna go laugh at him when he's a walmart greeter on furlough or something to that effect. So, yeah.
Pretty sure he just threw the Hawaiian thing out there to get you guys all spun up and it works every time.
