He also said in 2020 we would furlough for sure, 100%, no question about it done deal. And then he PMed a junior pilot on here saying he's gonna go laugh at him when he's a walmart greeter on furlough or something to that effect. So, yeah.
Pretty sure he just threw the Hawaiian thing out there to get you guys all spun up and it works every time.

That's never happened before. After 9/11, many airlines furloughed and the feds didn't kick in jack. The Feds came up with the ATSB (Air Transportation Stabilization Board) which just had the feds guarantee loans for smaller airlines that didn't have any liquidity.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Tr...lization_Board
By any metric, COVID without the free $$$$ from the Feds would have resulted in thousands of airline employees in a furloughed status.

My point is when it became the plan at HQ to not furlough and offer the leaves instead, OTZ wasn't on here with the inside scoop to make everyone feel better by leaking the good news. He was on here dooming and glooming right up to the announcement that we weren't furloughing, then disappeared for a few months.
Take his 'info' with a grain of salt is all I'm saying. He is entertaining though I'll give him that!

So am I, it’s about 💵💵💵💵, it always is. You probably already know this but RSV costs for pilots are significantly more then for FA’s. I have heard the company believes closing SFO will generate 5-7 million a year in savings, 22-30 CA’s and FO’s. I hope they keep it open but at this point I am almost positive it’s gone. Seniority will not change much, the middle to back of the bus CA’s will enjoy a little boost, the more senior Bus CA’s will take a haircut. It will all be fine in the end. I see “0” downgrades from this, but if it happens, that is the seniority game. I still have my fingers crossed it stays open though.
The company really wants just 4 bases, maybe a 5th in 2025 out of SAN. That is way way out there though and subject to lots of change.

Agree with you, but remember it's just an anonymous aviation chat board. Same guy said we wouldn't hire until 2023 or 24 I can't remember and don't care. Not criticizing him or trying to "throw him under the bus", but what he says is certainly not gospel. I like these boards and I treat them like college football preseason polls, they're really fun, but hardly ever accurate!
Finance controls marketing here, marketing controls flight ops, plans change. We decided to keep keep an extra 7 Buses for a few more months. We are now going to hire in 2022, and transition in 2023. The 230+- pilots we hire in 2022 will be a majority of our hiring for the next 2 years. I hope that changes though. I hope we hire 200 in 2023 but it looks like fewer then 60 right now.
The HA noise has gotten very quiet, could mean almost anything, I think an announcement on that front will happen in the near future, by next summer.
Small clean up bids until transition training picks up, 10-15 upgrades.
SFO is closing, once that is announced I am hiding out for a few months. I won’t be able to handle the whining on here, no the world does not revolve around any of us. The company will do what is best for the companies bottom line.
It’s summer, take your boats out, go to the ocean, enjoy the mountains. Spend time with your family. Relax!

Guys I am capable of being wrong, I just give you what I am hearing. Things around here honestly change monthly, if not weekly. We were 100% going to furlough, letters were going out… Good on the union, Good on the federal government.

Sure, it’s summer and SFO is about to drop.
Before I go, I would like to say how disappointed I am with the company’s stance on scope. I can’t believe they publicly say they want a modern contract yet somehow don’t understand what that means. BM and ST, this thing will unravel very quickly, it will take years to repair. No one here believes that lack of scope has benefited one Alaska pilot on the list, you only lose credibility. You look like Kamala when Lester says “You haven’t been to the border.”
