Delta has certainly upped its game in the last couple of years and I would like to believe that that can at least be partly attributed to the VX effect. Consequently, I agree it now has a better product than AS.

Lol. The only thing you got right is Delta has a worldwide network. Please.
Delta does have a better product. It also usually costs more. But…. Delta also SPENDS more. But, to be fair…. Delta is in the business of running an actual airline not a social justice factory with a credit card that also flies airplanes… when it’s not snowing…. in Seattle…. which borders Canada. Guaranteed Delta handles snow in ATLANTA better than we do in Seattle…. every year.

Delta is continuing to grow their SEA hub. 220s keep coming and the 7ER is going to give way to A321XLRs soon. They have Alaska firmly in their cross hairs. I'm not sure Alaska can continue to win sympathy from locals as "the local brand" with a bigger, better product in town. I know you guys are pretty proud and don't want to admit it but compared to Delta, Alaska is a regional airline. Those in the PacNW with money are willing to pay more for a better product that you can actually fly over seas and coast to coast in comfort on.

Actually... BTDT. No, they don't.

Georgia gets a snow/ice event MAYBE every other year…. But they still have equipment to get it done. Not having everything you need/want in Atlanta during a snow event…. Is not the same as a brand called Alaska, on the Canadian border, who has a snow event EVERY year….. and not being prepared. My opinion is based on expectations. Low expectations for an ATL snow event. Pretty high for SEA…. for Alaska. My expectations are most likely the problem. I hear that often out of SEA.

My source is saying that a merger with Alaska isn't looking likely. It's towards the bottom of the list of how they want to grow.

Personally I think Alaska needs to merge with JetBlue to better compete with Delta. And there is zero chance Delta makes a move for Alaska. If they backed out of Virgin America they definitely wouldn't even try for AS.
