WN/AS would not surprise me but the government may not be willing to create another behemoth airline. That would make what about 12500 pilots? That's the size of Delta and UA. It would require divesting a lot of slots at LAX and the northeast too.

I don't see G4 as an acquisition target because the founder still owns 29% and he likes to be in the drivers seat. An acquirer would have to go way above the already overvalued price to buy him out. Plus G4 has a crazy operation spread out across the company that's nothing like what anyone else does. Shutting down 18 bases would be a huge money suck. more likely G4 is going to merge with SY and smaller airlines.

Frontier is without a chair now if the JB deal goes through. They're gonna get with someone. If that deal happens then JB/AS is a no brainer. I don't see the 3 legacies getting bigger by M&A.

All good points. The reality of having to deal with MG, reliable rumors have it, already derailed a potential G4/NK deal. And for $3B+….what do you really get with G4? Not likely.

There are no slots in LAX to divest since LAX isn’t a slot controlled airport. As far as NE slot divestitures I still don’t see it since the combined Airline would trail the market share of the Big 3 by a sizable margin in all slot controlled NE markets.

The spoiler there has always been the management teams.. both want to survive and and actually run an airline (as opposed to make a quick buck in a fire sale). Plus stoopid emotional considerations like entrenched brand and airframe worship. One board or the other would probably have to throw it's managers kicking and screaming into meat grinder. Not sure how beholden the B6 board is to the management team.

Other than that, it makes perfect sense.

Less likely, but UA and DL could acquire AS or B6 and still be only a hair larger than AA.

Yeah I don’t know where that would be.
