You sir are also full of crap. AS NB lines in SEA are significantly better than DAL. You know it, you have seen it. I love your redeye starts to your four and five day trips that head back east. Then you spend the next thrilling days going in and out of JFK and ATL, up and down the eastern seaboard. Lucky dogs… delightful! Our RSV will be on par this Spring! You know what I do, I do one leg to the islands, turns, or sims at home. Right know I guarantee this is what you know. “If you had stayed at Alaska, you would be making more money, with a better quality of life.” That’s the truth, you’re still on here trying to prove to yourself that you made the right decision, wondering what you’re missing out on. In the future you may be very happy with your decision, sometimes the future doesn’t come though.
Sometimes things happen that were unforeseen, like your original classmates flying 787 to London, Paris, and Honolulu. While you layover in Cleveland. Laugh now, probably won’t be as funny 5 years from right now!

You’re right, I’m fighting mad this week. A lost a friend way to young. His two kids lost a Dad, his sweet wife llost a husband. I really neat guy lost his son. I get to come on here and listen to lies, exaggeration, and sniveling. Yup, your lives are miserable because AS hired you. Every other pilot on earth has it better than you. I am embarrassed you all are on the same seniority list as me. I hope this week, the thirty are ashamed to be human beings!

The only guys that come back to Alaska thread to post about their “experiences” are dudes trying to convince themselves they made the right decision or they hope to see something that might help their “sour grapes.” Do you know how many times I have posted on my previous employer’s threads, ZERO! I see SEA DAL pairings almost every month, I see what one to two, depending on the month awards to top 20% SEA 737 DAL pilots, I see one A220 bottom 30% CA and one A330 60% FO. Not one is close to what I see at Alaska…. Not even close, that is the truth. Days off trips all of it, the two top 20% 737 DAL CA’s fly average ALK SEA trips. The Junior A220 CA is always bragging about how awesome RSV is, how he never works… except he works all the time and makes crap. That leaves the A330. She works her line sees ALOT of garbage China and has 17-18 off with 84 hours of pay. That’s the truth!
And this is an Alaska thread, so posting about Alaska Airlines seems, I don’t know maybe appropriate? Living in Seattle and working for Alaska, probably germane.

Alaska Airlines:
General Information:
OTZ’s Perspective:
And then just a continuous blog of you posting about everything from pay, to work rules, how Alaska is by every metric the best airline on the planet, SEA is the best place to live and work, and if you disagree…. You’re wrong.
Moderator…. Any chance we could do this? Maybe start an exclusive OTZ thread…. no commentary or dissent… just a running commentary of OTZ’s perspective.

I’m not laughing at anyone. I’m not wishing any ill will on anyone at Alaska. I enjoyed my time there. That being said I also enjoy Delta. For me (keyword) I looked for much faster seniority movement, better schedule flexibility, fleet options, and widebody. Plus all the soft pay which I like. You can say one airline is good without saying the other is crap. I said there’s a difference in line constructions. AS is typically easier flying but more days flying. Conducive to living in base. DL is more legs/work but more hard days off especially as a junior pilot. In terms of the Eskimo flying 78’s I’ll believe it when I see them actually operating. That’s a complete 180 from what they’re doing now in terms of “growth” (a few new routes and increase frequency).

I’m sure therapy with help but only if he doesn’t try to be the smartest man in the room when he’s paying to speak to a professional.

suit up pay for when on reserve you get called out and then something changes such as the line holder getting back on his or her trip you’ll be paid accordingly. Conversion pay for when you get converted from LC to SC and not used you’ll get paid 1 hour. Not the biggest deterrent but it’s something. Reroute pay is great. It’s a little complicated at first they provide a bunch of scenarios for you to get an idea of when you’ll get just straight pay or when you’ll get 150% pay depending on the circumstances of duty times, cancellations, and going into certain days off (GDO’s we call X-days). Not a soft pay thing but I do enjoy the “swap with the pot” ability. I will say I’m ignorant of the ability to do that at AS as I was a PDX guy and was never able to hold a line. Out of base pay and per diem for slips. Cancellation and recovery. If your trip cancels and you are given recovery flying you will be paid and credit the higher of two trips plus 100% of the recovery trip. If you picked up a premium trip then it’s the same thing but with the recovery trip being paid at 150%. Pay protected on any removal of flying if you’re a line holder besides sick leave. I’m probably missing plenty as I’m still green and far from a master of manipulating and understanding the system. Hope this helped some.
