You’re kidding right? I’ll tell you it’s unrealistic enough to have NEVER happened at Alaska Airlines. Also add that half the airline has never been to JNU or SIT which makes it even MORE unrealistic.

LOE is supposed to be a line orientated evaluation, not a gauntlet from hell.

ALPA's defualt merger policy is not DOH. It's a 3 legged stool that includes Longevity, Status and Category, and Career Expectations. Out of those three things, I suppose Longevity could be confused with Date of Hire.

Longevity as I understand it for SLI purposes is DOH - certain times absent from company service, such as furlough and certain LOAs.

Yes. But for places that had 4 to 8 year furloughs, it can be rather different.

What year(s)?

Early 90s, up to 5 years
9/11 I'm not sure, many went back to island air or went abroad
Covid was about 75 pilots for a couple months

The 9/11 since that demographic has the most relevance in Longevity integration.

Minimal longevity affect then so it’ll come down to which group had more LOAs. We are pretty MLOA intensive, if those count.

Mil leave? I don't think those can be used to degrade one's status, in any context. Certainly for employer purposes it's as if you never left, in all respects.

Also we had folks on Covid EIL... I think those were specifically structured such that you were still an employee in all respects, just with a lower guarantee and no line to fly. Unlike typical LOA's, you were subject to recall at any time, and most did get recalled early.
