Sure you can give away a trip or two but if it’s a complete schedule swap every month then that should be addressed.

Who took all of Mrs Smith’s crappy trips? How did she open her schedule entirely to accept the husbands schedule?

The Hawaiian vacation system you can request vacation all year. There’s really no need to trade. I guess you could always reach out to someone and tell them you will be vacating a certain period and ask them to vacate their vacation in return for the info.

It kind of sounds like vacation isn’t much of a thing at Alaska. You either end up selling it all back to the company or picking up over it. If you do the math. If 2,000 pilots sell back 100 hours of vacation then that is 200,000 hours less labor that the company needs to hire. Being able to work more and credit a billion hours isn’t always a good thing. What’s better getting 70 hours credit as a Captain or 100 as an FO?
I don’t work on vacation. Some guys choose to, but not everyone. I need my vacation to go the east coast to see family and for my own family vacation trips elsewhere.

As I said, I'm OK with *other bases doing their own thing.

* Caveat: Obviously only for things which are not fungible across other bases, such as vacation.

But you're really basing your argument on something OTZ said happened? So there's a cartel that trades vacay for scotch and BTC, on a large boat in gig harbor

Dropped the trip. There are times when you can drop trips.

We’ll see how this shakes out with the JCBA. No use arguing with you or Rick anymore. We can agree to disagree about this.

I don’t get why you care so much what a more senior guy does with his trips or vacation. He/she used their seniority to be awarded those trips. They can do whatever they want with those trips/vacation.

And rsv staffing must have been great for Mrs Smith to drop her trips to take Mr Smith’s more senior/better trips. As a junior guy, either way, the Smith family is doing the flying, so I really couldn’t care less.

Whatever they want? Scalp all the summer vacay and put it up for bids!
They could run a side hustle of grabbing all of the July and seeing what they can make off it. Arctic Eagles only please.

Reminds me of the commuter hotel debacle.
