If they do that, they lose summer vacation.
Are we just be complaining to complain? Guys keep their summer vacations, mostly. *Some* might be willing to trade. I’ve reached out to those who have more than 18 days in July. Eg, a guy who had July 1-23. And see if he might part with a few days since he’ll be off the entire month. Only a few ever respond yes. It’s still much more rare than it is common. a SEA CA husband and a SEA Capt wife? You could probably count on one hand how many of those couples exist in the same base and seat doing favoritism to each other.

I’m gunna stop wearing my seatbelt when I drive my car. I can count on one hand how many times I’ve almost been in a wreck. Never been in one either. Seems unnecessary to be wearing a seatbelt. Why does the government care what i do?

certainly possible if a bunch of senior FOs senior to 24xx Capt upgrade and they don’t wanna commute if all the 23xx and more senior they certainly could be displaced with no CA left junior to them
no ones knows how it’ll play out we will find out in the new year
in the JCBA I would not mind some first dibs processions for existing captains in a displacembt bid, they took the risk and QOL hit to upgrade early

Our Union podcast on the subject of SAN starts with a reassurance that if downgraded a pilots SLI outcome won’t change. Since the seniority lists for SLI have already been exchanged. Hopefully the senior FOs bidding for CA because they are under the mistaken and foolish consideration that they can improve their SLI outcome will listen to the podcast.
It’s nice our Union are thinking of all the disruption that this bid will cause. Instead of the callus and completely devoid of empathy banter on APC.
June of 2025 we will have more captains system wide than in June of 2026. This doesn’t bode well for the future or our prospects going forward. If one uses their big brain and considers retirements.
But hey you guys can finally live out your flamboyant Top Gun beach volleyball fantasy. Congrats.

SLI’s and “stove piping” aren’t based on what you currently hold but what your seniority could hold and positions available. This career is about choices. Hopefully a 121 pilot at this point understands this. If the #1 pilot at HAL was on the 717 it’s not like they would be scrambling to bid the 330/787 to protect their seniority. Bid what you want, want what you bid.
