I think you’ll see some Alaska 330’s pop up that operate trunk routes out of Seattle and seasonal transcons where slot restrictions exist on the other side. The 330’s stay through their useful life and then will be replaced by 787’s. HNL 330 pairings will deteriorate to longer multidays.
I foresee SEA MCO and hoping SEA JFK SEA BOS 330s would be nice out some lie on high business routes to compete better with DL on and to Mco for summer and spring beak house of the mouse travelers

I don’t see how they keep all the 330’s ? I don’t have much of a crystal ball on 330’s on the mainland other than I don’t believe management would ever tell us at this point. Especially given the absolute nightmare that occurs everytime something negative happens to HI operations ( paint, call sign, gate markings)

I doubt AS would want to tell us plans that would give competitors lead time for a response.
Dude, ok you’re way off. We haven’t served BNE since before Covid. You mean MCO, BOS, AUS.
The only change in ICN and Japan, you mean NRT maybe… ICN and NRT was dropped from HNL.
The 787 will stop NRT from SEA in a couple months and back to 330.
ICN should stay on the 787.

Like was said above, we lost BNE years ago. MCO was a more recent cut than that one. BOS and AUS were (and NRT and ICN to SEA) were the most recent cuts. Also, NRT and ICN have both already gone to the 787, although it does sound like NRT is coming back for the summer. Each one of those cuts has been made up for by block hour increases on west coast destinations. I think the only change is that they try to keep a spare aircraft in HNL now, instead of before where the entire fleet was committed to lines of flying.

My guess. 6 months after SEA 787. I think the only constant is going to be a draw down of the HNL base. Any expansion out of HNL could easily be absorbed by a longer pairing out of the mainland anyhow.

Not discounting that as a possibility, because it definitely is, but what would that accomplish for them besides another massive displacement cost? They will likely continue to run LAX, LAS, SAN, SEA and HND on the a330 to HNL. That route structure is easier accomplished based on HNL. If they want to do a bit of Europe or Asia flying out of SEA on the A330 as well they can easily just do the longer pairings you're talking about but starting in HNL. In 6 years when all the displacement mess from getting rid of the 717s and 321s is finally complete I could see the move beginning, but I'd be slightly surprised if it was sooner.

I do agree that the HNL base will be a shadow of its former self. 787s gone, 321 and 717s replaced by 737s that do interisland and some west coast stuff with a lot of west coast feed coming from the mainland bases. It sucks, but it seems like that's where we're headed.

I understand SFO/LAX is being reduced? Does anyone know what base assignments will look like for the two classes in Feb? Just hoping the reductions would mean a better chance of being based in SEA or PDX initially. I have heard a rumor SAN went senior for Ca and Fo, I hope that is the case, as the commute would be more difficult than SFO/LAX.
