Agree on all. The 330 will probably be quite a while though given that they are dirt cheap, and the 787 would take at least a decade to start to replace them.

The project to expand the production facility is quite the undertaking. Muck and fill for the foundations of the buildings is 3-4X the normal amount. I think normal buildings are 4-6 feet and the CHS location it is 20 feet in places because they are building it on a wetland.

I believe some 330’s may get put in the mainland just because I don’t think there’s gonna be enough flying for them out of HNL once the Seattle widebody flying is ramped up.

it’s not the details as any bit of common sense/ writing on the wall should be just about figured out by now.
It’s the pace changes will occur. I believe those two milestones is what they are waiting on. Some threw a fit when the call sign changed. I think some are still in therapy. What’s coming will be more than many can handle. Especially on the FA side where many think layovers and routes exist for their personal enjoyment.

737 replacing the 717 is almost a certainty at this point. As far as the 330F was I the only one that heard the part about both sides wanting to expand that contract? I was half way listening when that came up and wasn't sure if they were talking about something else.

The issue I see is that they now own 15 of 24 A330’s, and how many of those 9 leases will actually stick around long term. That’s the elephant in the room, is that HNL could lose the leased 330’s if they are not bought or renewed.
BM said 41 wide bodies in 2035 so there’s a chance!

They have adamantly denied the possibility of moving 330’s to the mainland, which I actually tend to believe. They want Chester-less 787’s in SEA, and Pualani 330’s in HNL.
The issue I see is that they now own 15 of 24 A330’s, and how many of those 9 leases will actually stick around long term. That’s the elephant in the room, is that HNL could lose the leased 330’s if they are not bought or renewed.

I don’t see how they keep all the 330’s ? I don’t have much of a crystal ball on 330’s on the mainland other than I don’t believe management would ever tell us at this point. Especially given the absolute nightmare that occurs everytime something negative happens to HI operations ( paint, call sign, gate markings)
I doubt AS would want to tell us plans that would give competitors lead time for a response.

I don’t keep track of block hours… Has the 330 lost block hours with the loss of BOS, AUS, BNE, and will it lose hrs with the eventual transfer of ICN and Japan to the 787 out of SEA?

Let’s not forget about gate allocation at the mothership. It’s based on seat allocations. Another reason why they decided to purchase HAL with wide bodies being 1/2 of the fleet. They can dump 330’s and now 787’s on gates keep the seat allocations up and fight off DAL for gates. I think you’ll see some Alaska 330’s pop up that operate trunk routes out of Seattle and seasonal transcons where slot restrictions exist on the other side. The 330’s stay through their useful life and then will be replaced by 787’s. HNL 330 pairings will deteriorate to longer multidays.
