it was 21 months for me with nothing but radio silence and rumors. I had to pickup my life established on the west coast and move because you can’t just stare at the wall assume they’re gonna call right?

fwiw SWA is opening up apps next week(ish) and looking for people to start within 90 days.

MAX 10 will deliver to Alaska 9-12 months after certification due to HGS. If certified today we would not see these aircraft until late Q1 2027.

Best estimate on MAX 10 certification is Q3 2026. If there are no major setbacks. If this timeline holds there is no way we can get 25 MAX 10 delivered to the line in 2027.

Any setback to the timeline will mean even less MAX 10 deliveries. MAX 10 certification timeline will drive hiring for 2027. Anyone with a CJO should be paying close attention to the MAX 10 program.

Obviously, anything could happen in this business, but at least having a CJO in hand shows that you have a job when hiring starts back up.
Buddy of mine just started class at Delta almost exactly a year after his CJO. Seems like it's not just us these days.

No, and it is certainly nothing new.

no kidding… waiting months used to be the norm for just a regional job. Nowadays the youngins expect to interview and get a job offer from mainline the same day and be in class within 2 weeks… then complain about not upgrading by year two.

anyone who’s been around aviation (or has common sense)knows better than to think those types of scenarios last more than a short time (or are tied to really sh!tty bases/fleets)

Almost as bad as guys who have been here for 8+ years, taking the first upgrade and being shocked that they can't hold 100% princess trips.

Thats funny, 8 years in Seattle barely holds the left seat, and may not after the next LAX/SFO reduction bid.

That's funny, the bottom of the captain list in Seattle all upgraded at 5 years.
