As an outsider looking to get in, and in the process of applying. Any word about seniority list merger? VA pilots get bumped up to Alaska bay/beni's? Or do they not plan on that?
They could still operate the brands separately with the merged pilot group, if the previous post about keeping the VA brand are true. Just curious if the VA pilot group will see changes even if the brands stay apart. Thanks!

Not a dog in the fight but......
Suppose the 321neo kicks max butt and given the fact that the Alaska is more committed/stuck with its leases than its owned a/c for economic reasons, why wouldn't a desire for single fleet Ops lead more toward an all Airbus fleet?
I Understand it will take much longer to realize an all Airbus fleet than an all Boeing fleet simply due to total count on either side but is my logic not pretty straight forward?
Heard their bean counters are really good and the numbers make the decision pretty easy. Just a thought in passing.

Historically speaking since the NYC base opened it's more likely you get forced into the base if you're in the last couple bottom pilots of a newhire class. If you want New York, it isn't a problem. The million dollar question is whether or not the base stays open after the Alaska merger. Obviously there is good value to the base because it covers all 3 major New York airports with reserves that have a 3 hr callout. If they close the base, the closest base would be LAX and there's no way a reserve could be sent on a 6 hr flight in time to recover a sick call in JFK/LGA/EWR, weather event in the NYC metro area, crew timing out in the east coast, etc.
