Of course. That's not what we're talking about though, is it? As for driving to work and all that, I still don't think anyone really "aspires" to retire from VA *if* they actually think it will only get 40 or so more planes and stagnate forever just so they can live in base. Clearly they think it will become much more than that (and also get to live in base) which was the point.

Us legacy "schmucks" are just trying to get by after a devistating decade and endless stagnation the sector's been through. Flash in the pan rich foreigners playing with airplanes and growing into existing capacity while trashing yields and being kept afloat by said rich foreigner just so he can play with airplanes is what it is, but you can't expect people not chugging the kool aid to like it.

If I ran the world, all airline pilots would be making $200,000 + a year, get to retire at 45, and would always get Christmas and their kids softball games off. I just hope that when my time expires, I haven't waisted my life chasing "carrots" in our career, and I have actually been able to enjoy my life and family..... That is all.
Hear hear! Respec man.

If it was such a "flash in the pan" we'd be gone already. Whats with your vitriol towards VX? Typical cranky legacy driver......

• Hiring an additional 8 teammates to CSS to assist with day-of scheduling between Pilots and InFlight. This will also allow for better handling during IROPs.

• Creating a pilot base at JFK/EWR, with a goal of 50 full pilot crews (about 44 line holders and 6 reserves per seat).

JFK currently 18 crews: 16 lines and 2 reserves each seat.
With an increase of about 30+ crews to JFK, any idea how that's going to be staffed?? Will it be with new hires, or are there enough guys on property that want an east coast base? Just trying to gauge what the chances are of a new hire getting stuck out east?

Thanks!!

The industry has recovered to the extent it has largely due to "capacity dicipline". So don't expect a lot of advocacy for VX's and others business model for endless growth carriers dumping hundreds of new planes and low yields into existing capacity. The legacy airlines have to retreat to accomidate your growth, which makes them ever more expensive. And VX would have been gone long ago if RB wasn't guaranteeing returns for his fake "US investors" with his foreign money and buying tickets with his personal credit card. But you knew that.

Depends on how they are going to build JFK/EWR trips. Historically, JFK has gone quite senior. I think it would be quite fair to say that a new hire would be able to hold it right out of training going forward, though.

That's just a hunch though. We will have to wait and see how the upcoming bid hashes out.

Thanks for the pedestrian analysis. Now go back to being angry and negative.

An open system bid based on seniority. If there are vacancies when you get hired then you can get it right away. If there are none you will go where thy need you. Just a guess, there are more than enough guys on property who will take the NYC base. We have a lot of east coast guys who commute out west because they cannot hold NYC now. Plus a lot of midwest guys who might find the commute a little easier.

As for the schedules I would guess the trips will be mostly early AM reports because the base is being enlarged to handle early east coast departures while limiting FAR 117 duty restriction. Just a guess but I think trips will go something like this: Day 1 early am departure NYC-SFO-SAN, DAY 2 early am departure SAN-SFO-BOS, Day 3 early AM departure BOS-LAX-SJC, Day 4 early am departure SJC-LAX-NYC with a release mid afternoon to evening east coast time.

The whole industry has had a rough decade, not just your airline. Relax.

Our company here is chock full of ATA, Aloha, USAir/America West guys and yes, even several from your beloved Delta.

Go back to your Delta thread and keep patting each other on the butt and congratulating yourselves on being superior aviators. You're only a legend in your own mind.
