It is until it isn't...and then is.

Maybe the strategy here is to find the strongest applicants by shaking loose the weaker ones through regular use of misdirection.

Does that mean the Smart Recruiters/Pilot Talent Community thing is OBE?

A reliable source says they have had some "logistic and IT challenges" with integration, but hope it will become their primary source in the future. For now, it gets you the heads-up email that says the window is opening.

Internally, they just announced an in-house window at QX starting on the 10th for a "guaranteed" AS interview program. Did someone mess up and call it external as well?
:-(

No. A friend sent me the announcement that Alaska employees received. It said that the Horizon windows opens today as well, but will be open for 10 days instead of 7.

Pilot Hiring Window Opens
All interested pilots must apply in the open window June 9-16th
This afternoon the pilot hiring window will open to all interested applicants. The online application window will be open for 7 days starting today around 5pm and closing June 16th at 11:59pm. If the applicant is a Horizon pilot the window opens at the same time but closes 10 days later. They can access the site at "alaskaair.jobs" then select "Find Jobs" scroll down to the Featured Jobs section and select "Pilot Jobs". If you know someone who is interested please share this news with them right away so they have time to complete the application process within the allotted timeframe. Make sure they understand even if they have already completed what seemed to be an application via the Smart Recruiter program they must still apply in this window. You and your pilot friends might have heard there wasn't going to be another window with the addition of the new Smart Recruiter system, but there have been some logistic and IT challenges with integrating the two systems. We are hopeful the Smart Recruiter program will become our primary application method in the future. Thank you, Pilot Recruitment Team

For those interested, the alaskaair.jobs website does not have a "review" function like other application websites. So when you answer the last question you get a "Thanks for applying!" message. So, bear that in mind...

So what was the point of the phone screen via SR? The window is open to everyone anyway. Also figures I just started a 10 day stint yesterday morning, didn't bring my laptop as I never do unless there's a need, and I got the email last night as well. So the next access I have to my computer with my logbook and employment history, resume', etc, will be several days after window closes. Nice. They could have realized that we as pilots as are sometimes gone for extended lengths of time. A heads-up several days out or a >7 day window would have been nice. Sigh.
