Well yay! I can afford to buy a home somewhat close to the airport in 4-6 years at today’s prices!

Housing crisis solved!!!

Yes, it is a word, and certainly more intuitive than "Michiganders".

That is the best thing positive you have ever offered. However, it’s old news. Last class of new hires were all AB. And, it is is common knowledge that will be the case in the immediate future.

It also counters your contention that management doesn’t want commuters.

sorry if this has already been asked but does Alaska have an equipment seat lock for new hires? assuming all new hires are going to the airbus, is there a minimum amount of time before they can switch to the 73?

You can switch base and / or equipment on the next system bid as your seniority allows. No seat lock for new hires. Expect small system bids throughout the year every 3 to 6 months I suspect. The last bid was for 12 new captains I think and it generated something like 79 training cycles I was told.

As stated, no seat lock for new hires. Once you do choose to switch, you incur a 2 year lock unless an upgrade or higher paying equipment is available, or displaced.
