I would guess we will hire when there’s a need for pilots. Still lots of pilots out on leaves and we will be operating fewer aircraft than we had pre covid for sometime. There is no need for us to hire, and won’t be for long time I’d expect.
At this point I think there is a higher chance of a furlough in the next couple years vs new hires.

Not uncommon at all for Alaska Airlines.

By the end of 2023, Alaska will have grown 35% but have the exact same number of NB airframes as 2019. Let that sink in! Then consider we will require about 200-300 fewer pilots to staff this fleet then the previous one. Whatever SWA gets this next time around, we need 3% on top of them. Even with that AS management would have us working for a discount when compared to our peers.

AS is just a credit card company that also happens to fly airplanes.

I haven't heard anything about our Secret Sauce in a while. How can we win JD Power without it?

You should apply to our mainline carrier American Airlines. They announced they’re planning on hiring this Fall. We might need to hire again after we negotiate a flow through. 😉

FWIW there was no mention of any hiring plans on the company webcast today. However, QX will continue to run new-hire classes...

I understand that our other sister-carrier OO is also running new hire classes. I suppose good for both of them....No Question as to why. Alaska Airlines can get a fully crewed Horizon jet and a fully crewed Skywest jet for less then it costs to crew a single Alaska jet. 2.5 to 1 deal....
