Alaska is a great place to come…
-if you love working much more for the same amount of pay that our peers on the same aircraft type get.
-love being on the road more than home with your family and not being paid for your time (ie paid minimum per duty period NOT min calendar day pay)
-accept the status quo
-live in the pnw

It makes sense as QX and OO are getting the majority of the flying. There’s more movement and opportunities at those airlines and it’s an opportunity lost for those on the AS seniority list.

I find that incredibly hard to believe that someone would walk away from $90 an hour first year to go start all over again at a regional and still have the same amount of days off. If they did I’d really think twice about what caused their departure or their mental stability.

I know one that is at Kalitta now. Upgraded in 2 years. He’s making more money and has more days off than if he had stayed. He’s very happy and probably more mentally stable than those of us that stay.

For most of my former coworkers that made the jump, it’s just the degradation in quality of life. Yes the pay is better but it doesn’t do you much good if you’re never home to enjoy it.

But... family. ACMI is a niche gig, schedules not suitable for most of us.
