Are you saying that you wouldn’t recommend someone coming to AS? Even with the new contract hopefully in the works? I’ve been considering AS for awhile now to get out of my regional. Thanks

I didn't say that. That's going to be a personal decision.

^^^^^^
Excellent advice above. Don’t base your decisions off an anonymous internet board, especially this one

Depends always on your personal situation, but with what the regionals paying what they are to keep people and with all the legacies hiring, there are few cases where Alaskan Airways makes sense.

We are barely a step up from the regionals at this point. Even with a good contract, management despises us and there is no plan here.

Remove seniority from the equation and 99% would take a job at a real airline. Even Shy, probably even OTZ. Have you noticed all we talk about in here is hoping we merge with a real airline? It's sad.

Looks like QX starting pay is about to be almost there same as AS starting pay.

wouldn’t it make more sense to just merge the two now?

Not sure how you could do that. 100% sure that ALPA would be against that as well as the Alaska Airlines pilot group. How do you merge a pilot who is just barely not a “flight instructor” on top of a pilot with thousands of hours of 121 airline experience. The make up of the Horizon pilot seniority list will prevent any chance of a merger…

This whole thing should come back to bite them for paying so poorly back in the day. So if they are willing to pay $191.25 for a 12 year 76 seat CA, that’s $2.5 per pax per hour. So the bar is set, what does your 737’s hold 180-200? So 12 year CA pay should be between $450-$500 per hour. Perfect. Send it out.
