Not sure why. FOM 4.2
“You have the aircraft.” or “You have control.”

There is no you have the jet.

I always say “You have control of the jet aircraft”. I figure I cover all bases with that.

WWYD...
Live in SEA, transcon commute to regional, sick of the commute and juniority. Class date at Alaska coming up soon. CJO at Delta, waiting for class date assignment but they are telling us to expect 3.5 months to indoc due to training backlog.

The doom & gloomers here will tell you Delta, but from what I think I heard SEA is pretty overstaffed for them and might take a while to get now.

At least with Alaska, 100% you’ll be able to get SEA right out of the gate…

If you're 55+ years old, I'd probably just take AS, no risk of having to commute. But your SSN last four matters at DL... higher (larger) number is better. That can be the difference between SEA/west coast out of the gate or commuting to a seat lock in NY.

If you're under 40, DL for sure.

In between, depends on your personal priorities but lean towards DL unless you really, really hate commuting.

Make sure you understand the seniority demographics on the DL fleets at SEA... how soon to get in, and then how fast does seniority progress.

Doom and gloom? Maybe think of the long game. How many people have left Delta to come to Alaska? SEA, LAX, & SLC have all been randomly offered to new hires in the last few months.

Alaska’s new contract and pay looks great. Their seniority movement doesn’t. That reason alone is why I jumped ship. Come to the south side.
