- Question 1: why Alaska and not Delta?
- Then be prepared to start lying…..DO mention culture, all the woketarded buzz words, and Seattle. DO NOT mention pay, bases, time off, seniority progression, reserve rules, scheduling flexibility, profit sharing, or anything else that is actually important to a pilots career.

United is hiring 2400 next year, wants to be 28j by 2030 so if you are that unhappy here could not hurt to pay you’d upgrade in less than 2 years there.

Hiring is cyclical and upgrade times fluctuate. We’ll see what the future brings. It would be assumed that anyone coming here (or anywhere else) has done their homework.

Do with that information what you will. It’s not all rainbows and unicorns but it’s what’s happening. As to future promises made about growth I’d keep your expectations in check.

In 2019 we had 237 mainline aircraft available to AS pilots on the seniority list. In 2025 we have 245 mainline aircraft, available for you to fly and make a living to feed your family. Our growth is entirely based on an uncertified aircraft. One that likely won’t be certified until 2027. Or later. We have upgraded less than 1% of the pilot group in nearly 2 years. We are still awaiting another position bid. The most junior captain to upgrade in my base was a 2007 hire on the last upgrade bid. We have hired a total of 20 pilots in nearly 2 years. 85% of them Horizon and 15% military. Unless you were 55 or younger at the time of the merger announcement, you’ll never touch a 787.

- Attrition as of Sept 1: 54, Hired 20 = pilot group is currently shrinking.
- Unstacking = Oct 74%, Sept 62%, Aug 98%!
- ALV’s driven down to minimum to create more low credit lines and fewer reserves. Less reserve coverage = less schedule flexibility (2022 CBA is a bust)
This should be its own thread but it’s important for people job hunting to have good info. I didn’t.

Should we keep going? 1001 reasons to go to Delta….

There is the NARRATIVE
There is the facts/truth
Both sides of any issue seem to have problems living in reality while doling out the narrative.

All I have done is pointed out what is actually happening with deliveries and growth. Another fun fact I failed to mention is that there are 55 pilots senior to me looking to upgrade in my base 70ish senior to me looking to upgrade in PDX. I didn’t count up the other bases. I’m close to 8 years of seniority. It’s fairly easy for potential new hires to do the math on “career expectations” and progression.
The only bright spot is it seems as if the 787 program is now moving the correct direction. The shadow factory at PAE is closed. The Lufthansa airframes are finally moving. The production rate may support the 787 claims made by mgmt. How much that helps our a 737 pilot is TBD. This won’t apply to new hires but it’s no secret Widebody goes senior everywhere.

Please knock off the insults.
Also keep this thread at least tangentially about hiring. Your job satisfaction, or lack thereof, could maybe be useful info for a potential job applicant, but please just make your point once. There's no need to keep beating dead horses.
