the in-the-way PA was the brainchild of the Floor2Crew....They had to satisfy there ever expanding need for self-worth and are grabbing for credit from the inflight staff who own the entire onboard customer service nod....I am just surprised by the people who tie talking to the pax as part of customer service....funny stuff I tell ya

I believe The standing in front of the passengers and giving an announcement is a play straight out of the Jetblue playbook.

Just too bad we are focused on PA's and hats and not on the fact that our schedules that are about to get crushed with PBS.

I can't imagine one good thing that will come out of PBS. A union rep was in our training event telling us PBS would reduce our current pilot group by over 150 pilots.

Not one word form ALPA so far on any of these so called "benefits" form PBS.

Yeah, tell us about the "benefits". QX is being told, (with a gun to our head), that we're getting PBS or they're going to pull the trigger.
Aren't they doing this out of the goodness of their hearts???
(At least we don't have hats.) :-)

Hope the QX pilot group is able to see through the union busting 101 techniques and votes no way on this thing.

Ask anyone who've lived under PBS and they will tell you that it is a VERY bad deal "overall" for the pilots, especially the bottom 97%. The devil (aka the association ) is in the detail (aka the company).

I liked PBS when I had it, and I was junior on rsv to the top 10%. Yes, there were downfalls from line bidding, but language is everything. It will save the company a lot of money, so I suggest you get something good in return. One huge thing is minimum staffing. The only months I noticed schedules get bad was in times of short staffing, so I suggest establishing a min, and get solid language for it.

I had PBS before I was at Alaska. It was very very bad. I have had significantly better schedules here with line bidding even as a junior FO. Additionally as soon as PBS goes into effect they will stop hiring, upgrade time will increase and your seniority is going to be affected. The only reason the company wants it so bad is ($) because they can staff less pilots for the same amount of flying.

This quote says it all guys.

Less staffing is required with PBS.. period. Less movement and taking more control of our schedules is good for the company bottom line.. bad for the pilots. This is the reason they are pressing it so hard on the QX pilots. They know QX is a mighty hard sell to new pilots and will only get tougher in today's attrition rich climate. A system that takes some pressure off pilot recruitment and makes them even more $$ is simply music to their ears.

Guessing ex skywest? Skywest is the reason a gun is being held to our heads. If skywest pilots had attempted to raise the bar once in the last decade, we all would have been better off.
