Assuming we hire in 2019 and you get hired I don’t think you’ll get stuck as a career FO. Upgrade won’t be blazing fast either but if you’re willing to go to the less desirable junior bases you shouldn’t take that long to upgrade. I’d say definitely within 5 years probably less assuming we get the growth we are supposed to and some crazy event doesn’t happen.

Quick upgrade is gone, and assuming you upgrade asap your quality of life will be low. Probably moving to VPS and frequent TDYs. If you want to upgrade quick you might as well go to another airline with better work rules. If you don't mind $100k or so for a few year and living in base as a FO, it's a good job.

Their current headcount forecast doesn't show us needing pilots for a while. I believe that's overly optimistic (low) and that they can't run an airline at those levels. The final level will probably be a little less than we have now, but above whet they are predicting. They are using it as a negotiating tactic.

Also, let's agree that the general economy seems to be turning a corner and fuel prices are rising. If the downturn comes soon, as most analysts are predicting, all bets are off. Allegiant will weather the downturn better than most, but expansion will stop. We are currently staffed for the flying we do right now. That could mean an extended period of little or no hiring. Attrition remains very low.

My offer of a beverage wager still stands, let me know if you accept...

Also, I agree that there is a short term rise in oil (which will work itself out), but who are these "most analysts predicting a downturn" that you mention? When I'm not flying I have CNBC (or occasionally another business channel) on about 14 hours a day. There is definitely NOT a preponderance of analysts predicting a downturn "soon." In the future (sometime) yes, but there is always a downturn in the future... Fundamentals are still looking very strong.

Exactly. Fundamental economic markers are looking very strong at the moment.

I thought you were at the beach and having brunch and then back for happy hour. How on earth do you have time for CNBC?

No, that's me! And I definitely don't have time for CNBC, I am too busy with the beach beauties...almost all the time. Even non-millenials and non Skywest alumnis, know how to have fun at and outside of work.

This job does provides the proverbial work/life balance that most people talk about, but a very few actually get to practice.

Not to steal the thread but is there any relief for the qualifications if you are already an Allegiant employee. I’m an A&P with the company.

I assume your application would be right on top of the stack.

Probably depends how much relief you're talking about. What are your quals?

I'm sure you know we aren't hiring pilots right now, and they aren't sure when we will resume. If you work here, why don't you look up the system chief pilot on G4 Connect and email him your question?

I am actually starting school in January. So I just wanted to see if they would still require that I have 3,000 flight hours. I'm just trying to see what I have to shoot for.
