either way we are screwed in SLI because we will have some idiot IBT attorney who can’t tie his own shoes argueing for us while Alpa will have some lawyer who’s probably already done SLI arbitration multiple times.

again, this begs the question: why would Alpa give ibt favors right now when they are in a battle to represent the merged airline AND a battle over SLI arbitration???
Alpa would not, and those that are saying this likely, if they were told by IBT person might want to consider the source. This all seems like a way to deflect pressure to get the deal done. IBT will not likely settle for the short deal to get the pilots paid and bridge us to the joint contract as that is likely the end at G4 for them. Even if this is what the pilots want, to me this is why we get little to know info right now. They need to hit the homerun or they are done, if going for the home run means the pilots at G4 have to get stuck tell the joint contract IBT does not care.

Every Pilot should be emailing the EXCO since they will not poll. Telling them IBT has had more than enough time to get us the rock star deal. It is time to get the best deal on the table now and let the pilots vote.

agreed. Get us the best you can before the end of summer (or the mediator’s June deadline if that does not change).

We need something to vote on. If it is not enough for the pilots then we can vote it down. With so much on the line with the SLI fight looming we must have something to vote on soon.

Honestly after reading the unions email a couple times I think the company’s proposal to do an expedited path to a CBA sounds promising. Especially where we are still negotiating section 15 separately if we get that done and then have some expedited path to getting a contract done (even if it’s not perfect) will set us up to be in a great spot for the JCBA. Are we supposed to get another update before the end of this week?

It would be abnormal to publish this plan but anyone on the sunny side can confirm this with ALPA MEC.

Alpa and the IBT have a representation battle coming up. What if IBT get put on ice, would Alpa sit on the sidelines indefinitely? Of course not. I don’t doubt that Alpa will give the IBT sometime to get a quick or skinny deal done, but they are not gonna wait around for a couple years so the IBT can negotiate.

remember we are still not finished with PBS. We haven’t started negotiating benefits, rigs, rates or scope. You don’t think Unterseher and IBT will want to spend at least a year on those?
I was told ALPA attorneys have reviewed our retention bonus agreement and concluded it's a gray area of risk that they do not want to be responsible for by filing single carrier.

The wording of the RB as company and pilots represented by teamsters differs from the CBA or other MOU which is company and teamsters. This may be fine or could be exploited and several have asked different labor attorneys if this would hold up in court and none will give a definitive answer. Why would ALPA file single carrier before the cba is complete and open the door for two ways to lose a quarter million dollar bonus right before a single union vote? That makes no sense but don't take my word for it, just find out direct from the alpa MEC.

so you really think Alpa would wait around for 18-36 months while we negotiate a full cba? They would just tell their SY pilots to wait an extra 2-3 years before even beginning JCBA negotiations???

use your head. Alpa might give us some grace period (think 3-4 months) but no way they will continue to sit on their hands if we don’t have a TA or AIP come the holidays.

I believe our union has vetted this with an RLA attorney and the RB stays with us, regardless of representation. The company has also stated the RB is between the company and pilots, irrespective of representation. Unless you’re MG (not talking Maury G) who knows everything about everything and has asked his neighbors sisters dog sitters best friend who went to law school, we’re going to be just fine. The point is likely a non issue as it sounds like we’re very close to an AIP that will hopefully make most happy until the JCBA can make us whole.

Ever since I’ve started here I have heard “the company has no problem paying us Alaska rates” it will be interesting if that is true with this bridge agreement.

I was told the same also when I worked there. Here are Alaska's rates.

I’d be willing to bet the top end of the scale will be close to that, but everything prior to year 12 will be much much less.

Hopefully it will be in the ballpark. Even if you take the averages of the union proposal a couple years ago and paid us that at least we would be comparable. I just hope we don’t accept a super lowball offer.
