ALPA has agreed to not file single carrier until we get a deal so there is no deadline of losing the bonus but hopefully the company comes in with a fair offer sooner than later.

I'm seeing this talk about how not getting a deal makes SLI worse for you guys. I don't understand that, what's the relationship between the two?

Yes with no new cba the lower pay/QOL becomes the documented current baseline, which can weaken the career expectation arguments versus Sunny pilots. Career expectations is weighed by arbitrators in SLI along with longevity, status/category and relative seniority.

Oh. I had no idea that arbitrators weighed that. The concern makes more sense, then, for sure.

JCBA first, then SLI. This is why.

Where is this documented? I have not seen anything official that states anything like this. My guess is the Rumor mill is mistaken SLI for Single carrier.

There is no document. It’s the same weenies who think we lose the RB if we switch to ALPA. Just fear mongering GU supporters. GU will lose his job when we go ALPA and they’ll say anything to keep that from happening.

Agree, no one ever has real doc. Why on earth would either group want to sit by and watch IBT try for 3 more years to get a deal just at G4 when they could just switch and work on a joint contract that supports both groups. Even the company would not be onboard for that.

The problem is if IBT thinks they could somehow win representation with a stellar deal, with the IBT contract for both. Then they will push for that and they will not care if we get nothing in the time being. Once the deal is done to purchase Sunny it is in the entire groups best interest to file single carrier and have a vote on who represents the whole and move forward.

THIS

ive heard this ALPA agreed to let us finis our deal before they file single carrier also. I’m calling bs. Alpa will probably wait through summer but they will absolutely not wait more than a few months. Why would ALPA delay getting SY pilots paid as a favor to the IBT?

Alpa and the IBT have a representation battle coming up. What if IBT get put on ice, would Alpa sit on the sidelines indefinitely? Of course not. I don’t doubt that Alpa will give the IBT sometime to get a quick or skinny deal done, but they are not gonna wait around for a couple years so the IBT can negotiate.

remember we are still not finished with PBS. We haven’t started negotiating benefits, rigs, rates or scope. You don’t think Unterseher and IBT will want to spend at least a year on those?

yeah arbitrators weigh everything which is ALPA has its own procedures so they can have some control over it. But we are at the arbitrators mercy being ibt vs Alpa.

and who do you trust to better argue to the arbitrator your seniority: Alpa or IBT?

either way we are screwed in SLI because we will have some idiot IBT attorney who can’t tie his own shoes argueing for us while Alpa will have some lawyer who’s probably already done SLI arbitration multiple times.

again, this begs the question: why would Alpa give ibt favors right now when they are in a battle to represent the merged airline AND a battle over SLI arbitration???
