I've found the new hires lately to be great. It's funny how people are questioning the current batch of new hires, when in the past allegiant hired people from Grand Canyon Airlines who probably never saw a cloud before. Most of our new hires have a few years at a regional and are very sharp.

lol. You sound dumb. I’d hate fly with you. Some airlines require radar be on no matter what before take off just as procedure. Could have used a better example.

No, he couldn’t, because trying to think one up probably would’ve just highlighted that he doesn’t keep up with changes to procedures. “These new hires don’t even know to turn on the lights when we start taxiing”. Instead he finds something that he thinks is silly and probably doesn’t even bother to ask what they’re doing or offer some training. There’s no telling what he’d say about me since I like to bring up various system pages in flight while I’m studying systems. “These damn new hires are randomly looking at the bleed page in flight and looking up at switches in the overhead panel like they’re lost”.

I don’t want to bash all of our new hires. If you get through G4 Airbus training (not easy) & make it to the line that says a lot. For sure. Everyone I’ve flown with can fly the plane & make a safe landing. No issues there. I probably should have said that I see a difference in SOME of our new hires’ ATTITUDES & left it at that vs. pointing out the little new-guy stuff.

My only complaint about new hires is the ones who were sold a bunch of BS by the recruiters and came here with unreasonable expectations about bases, being home every night, reserve, and what it's really like to work here. They're miserable to fly with and it makes a for a long day. Everyone says I'm too negative here but I try to keep it real so that anyone who comes here knows exactly what they're getting into. If you make that choice I don't want to hear you b1tchin' because you didn't do your research.

Many of the new hires are far more comfortable in the AB than a lot of the senior pilots were during the transition from MD to AB…

The structure isn’t the finest you’ll ever find, but the program as it stands today is easy enough to get through as long as you put in some effort. It’s come a long way from when we first started FCOM procedures and had no real training supplements to help get you on the right track.

Not easy does not equal not good. G4 trains more emergencies and failures than any other airbus operator in the us, and gives each student the most sim time in the US and has over a 90% pass rate. It’s taught the airbus way though and that can be confusing and it’s time consuming. The pilots G4 puts on the line are some of the most prepared in the US though.
