Aviation itself is the biggest culprit when it comes to incorrect use of English language. How many times have you heard pilots starting a sentence on the radio with ‘…and Center United XYZZ level at 340’ (This is just one example)?

How many times have you corrected (and lambasted) those pilots for using low level of English grammar?

On a lighter note, this is an Informal Internet forum where the use of such language and words is acceptable. So, let off some steam and have a cold glass of beer.

You also seem like a person – more like a 12-year old, who must have the last word. I will give you that in advance. You win!

Can't is not slang. It's an accepted form of abbreviation. Just open up a book! And the word hit is a verb just like press...so there is no point to be made other than you don't know what your talking about.

Wow.

I think AZbound's point was that this particular individual represents management and should be held to a higher standard of professionalism. Unfortunately, this is just one of many proofreading failures that have been committed by those in the corporate office. We used to have green banners scrolling across our bidding screen that were laced with misspellings.

So for all the applicants that are interested in applying to G4, they just announced a new virtual floating type TDY base. So, it doesn't seem to matter whether you live near a base, even in Florida, or not. They are going to float you around the system year around as needed. Happy TDYing!

"Flexible Basing," a new concept in placing personnel!! Two days between the email explaining the whole thing, and the date of closing the bid? Wow...way to get a hold of this concept in a timely manner!

In other news: 30-50 upgrades by the end of the year...going to need plenty of NH FOs to backfill! I just hope we have the sim time and instructors to meet the demand.

Nailed it - thank you. Apparently the point I was trying to make was lost in translation.

The head guys must have run out of buddies that they wanted to make checkairman/instructors and make them Captains over all the other pilots out of seniority.

Food for thought... Just how junior will a Captain TDY Base Bid go. My guess is all the way down to the new guys & gals. Luckily the MD80 is a simple aircraft and one can just jump into the left seat with ease.

Quick though, bids close in two days!

I'm wondering if they will have to junior assign people to be forced to upgrade since all of the new upgrades will be probably be assigned to the TYD base?

Wonder how many other airlines have to do that?
