Exactly-have we learned nothing?! I think this is a HUGE step backwards, and I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

Is commuting from GSP doable w/ Allegiant? They fly there on a regular basis. Or should I expect to live at the domicile only?

Maybe, but not likely. You cannot plan on any form of quality life, especially as it relates to commuting. For at least two years. This new HOM base is a big mystery to us. Past experience has proven in won't be a good deal for you. The few details that have been revealed indicate it will be nasty-bad for pilots. Great for the company of course.

Plan on living in base ONLY. Or, living in a hotel when they TDY you around for the next year or more.

I have a phone interview coming up. Does anyone know what to expect? How many different phases does the entire process have and what dates are the upcoming classes?

I am coming from a regional on its last legs and understand that living in base will help quality of life.

Thanks

That would be an easy commute. And with them flying to all the florida bases would give you multiple options. If you have to commute, at least the distance isn't far and you have many options, including charlotte or concord nc up the road as a backup.

You can commute from anywhere, the question is weather you would ever be home.....I commuted, it was awful I was only home about 3 days a month.

Best case scenario for any commute is you'll be away 4 nights a week. Regardless how senior you are. Like I said, that's best case. Could be a lot worse, depending on a variety of factors.

According to the official IBT release, it appears this meeting was fully pre-briefed and sanctioned by IBT leadership and legal. I'm told both welcomed the opportunity to have a union rep speak directly to MG. If MG is finally seeing the light and reaching out to get input from sources other than his 'yes men', particularly one of our fully briefed union officials, then that's probably a good thing. If not, nothing is lost. I don't know about you, but if "productive and fruitful exchanges" between us and the top brass will avoid the 8 year disaster between IBT pilots and Republic, I'm all for it. If 2 years of not talking has brought us this (negligible) 'progress', talking certainly can't hurt. We haven't paid IBT a dime yet, I'm not sure their current level of commitment would last 8 years. Neither would our volunteers, I'm sure.

I don't see any ties or reversions to the past. It doesn't appear any negotiations took place, but even if they had, unlike before, no contract can even be ratified without the full consent and vote of the membership. Reading the letter, this was nothing more than a frank discussion about "...progress of negotiations, staffing, scheduling, maintenance reliability, the HOM base, pilot morale…. unrealistic growth plans with inability to attract/retain qualified pilots….(inadequate) compensation, quality of life and job security….heightened need to accelerate a competitive contract". All topics I'm quite pleased MG is getting directly from IBT. SPC's role is to give our negotiator's better footing at the bargaining table, that shouldn't be limited to one side of the table.

IBT has been hoping for direct meetings between IBT and MG, particularly our negotiating committee. Perhaps this is a first step in the right direction. JMHO

Or MG could just show up to a scheduled meeting with our negotiating team & have any & all questions responded to in full.
