How deep are your personal pockets vs. Allegiant's?

Better question is: How deep are Alaska's pockets Versus Delta?? Go worry about that....

When it all comes down to it will your pilot group fold like a house of cards in a tornado? That's the honest question you have to ask yourselves. Do you have enough of a majority who are willing to walk the walk and not just talk the talk. How deep are your personal pockets vs. Allegiant's?

On top of all that, how long will it be before you're even released to self-help.
All good questions Pack.

Given IBT's Upfront investment in legal fees, court costs, and negotiations, all without collecting a cent, it's safe to say they're serious. So far, They have been very helpful and supportive of our efforts.

Pilots here are not only willing to strike, they are eager to do it. I would venture to say that a sizable percentage would rather strike before signing a contract, just to teach MG a lesson. He has never dealt with a militant/unified/committed pilot group and his mistakes are a result of his arrogant/dismissive behavior.

Although I cannot attest to the depth of every pilot's pocket, keep in mind that, unlike traditional carriers, ALGT is a travel company. In addition to obvious implications with the stock price, their business model is highly dependent on the ancillary revenue generated through internal customers. Hotels, rental car agencies, entertainment venues, etc. would come demanding restitution the minute their customers suddenly dried up. These are very Fragile, mutually dependent relationships that cannot withstand a protracted strike. It would take years to recover from the damage.

How long before we are released? It's unknown, but realize that ALGT is a small leisure carrier. Relative to larger airlines that carry huge implications to commerce and business travelers, ALGT's shutdown represents a much smaller impact and the NMB knows it. Their reputation with the NMB precedes them from their experience with the flight attendants. It's also safe to say ALGT has ****ed off the NMB and every other acronym in the US government (DOT, DoD, DOJ, FAA, NTSB). Others include Federal and State Labor Departments, Better Business Bureaus, employees, customers, and media. Outside of Wall Street, ALGT has no friends. The ValuJet findings and the alarming similarities to ALGT have many agencies looking to make an example out of MG and AL. The NMB has reportedly stressed the need to accelerate the mediation process, presumably as they're as tired of ALGT as everyone else and would like to see this process quickly reach its logical conclusion: strike

Then you get my props for prior planning.

Dawg,

Lots of good observations. Hopefully, you're right. I wonder if the size of Allegiant will really be an issue when it comes to a strike and a subsequent PEB that has historically followed.

True, you're not a huge trunk carrier, but the precedent of NOT socking you with a PEB while hitting the Majors every time might be something the DoT may blink at. Hopefully not though.

It's just too bad when a CEO is unable or unwilling to recognize the fact that without pilots, an airline can't function. After all, the Mutual Aid Pact was outlawed decades ago.

In any case, best of luck. I truly hope you guys will get what you deserve.

I think some other poster made a reference to republic being in endless limbo with no release in sight. And a reference to the teamsters being apart of their process, sharing some of the blame for the lack of a contract. G4 will be released by the NMB. G4 doesn’t come up on DOT’s radar. We don’t have DOT awarded slots in major cities. No ripple effects will be felt by our regional affiliates to any essential city pair(s). We don’t have any airline partners. I don’t think we even do EAS.

We are different. We’re a “Travel Company”, not an airline. Suddenly I like that crap.

The pilots aren’t the ones getting woody’s for the stock price. We aren’t the ones cashing in millions at a time. We aren’t jeopardizing our multi-million dollar compensation package(s). The wealth gap between upper g4 management and us rivals the canyon. The majority of the pilots can replace what we have, or at least come very close. Because most of us have lived on so little.

This is a public company. A strike will wreck that beautiful stock.

What's amazing is they have so much room to improve the contract, I don't see how mgmt can't not blink, to think that any negotiation isn't going to move towards the norm is fantasy.

They know it. G4 emt has been trying to manage our expectations with suggestions like pay raises all around and no work rules please. Not. We know that shell game. Our position is steadily getting better with our recent court injunction, and what will be an all out win of the law suit this Fall. Bye, bye PBS.

Early indications are the NMB is tilting in our direction. We got momentum baby! And righteousness on our side. The wheels of justice are slow but steady.

That and of course we get the regular propaganda that roams the LAS terminal on Mondays saying: "you got a good gig man, you got a good gig man" "these are good problems to have" "everyone can leave, we have tons of resumes of people wanting to come work here"

Of course this guy has his golden parachute to go to AA anytime he wants.....Yeah he has a good gig here.....

This is how the strike will go down at g4: Hotel(s), rental car company(s) calling MG. “Hey MG where the heck are all of my customers?” MG: “Uhh, the pilots walked..”

“I thought you said yawl got a Travel Company over thar’, not no friggin airline, with airline pilots!”

MG: “Ya me too”
