No possibility for staying Texas. Commuting is not an option unless you are in the top 1 or 2 guys. It is all day trips so you will be home every night. Don't expect more than 2 days off in a row and you will end late on your day before a day off and start early on your day back after a day off. If you are on reserve in Florida you cover the whole state. No work rules outside of the FARs. Seniority is not honored for schedule bidding and see the debacle for quarterly base bids in the previous posts. You have to be prepared for any plane to any base. If you are ok with all of that then you would be good. I gave you the worst of what I have experienced so if you can accept all of this you will be fine. Good luck.

Looking at the Allegiant route map shows they operate in 6 Texas cities (AUS, ELP, SAT, LRD, MFE, BRO), plus Shreveport, LA near the eastern border. With that many ops you'd think there would be some chance of being based somewhere in the Lonestar state, but I'll defer to the experts more familiar with things.

When they say AAY is not like other airlines they aren't kidding. I'd say it takes a certain kind of inner strength plus a strong positive outlook to succeed there. Plus an ability to deal with impromptu cockpit issues regularly thrown your way.

This was specifically addressed in the recent management "Town Hall" presentation - no plans for a TX crew base.

Exactly. Just because we service a city twice a week from each base doesn't make it a crew base. The schedules are uncommutable.

Ha! Nope...just that ALL of the new upgrades in my base went junior to me. So, if they're not consistently TDY'd away out from under me, which has calmed-down on the 80 lately, I'm in store for a line of crappy doubles...but still a line & >70 pay!!

And for the upgrades: sadly, CA pay doesn't start 'till your 1st Revenue Flight off IOE. A travesty I hope is addressed in our new contract. It should start at least on completion of your check ride, or better yet, on day one of Upgrade class!
