How hard is it to get hired with the mins (no college degree but working on it, no TPIC but jet SIC 121)? Also, I've heard that with Allegiant's plans to get rid of the B757 fleet soon and with their plans to get rid of the mad dogs by 2020 that Allegiant will only have about 55-60% of the aircraft they have now, in 2020 (sorry if I worded that weirdly). How could pilot staffing be affected by this reduction in Allegiant's fleet? Which hubs could possibly close?

Here is some of the relevant info from the last Annual Report, which is about a year old, new one is due out in May 2016:

During 2014 we purchased approximately $325 million of used A319 and A320 aircraft for future deliveries. Of that total, we forward purchased 12 A319 aircraft for approximately $236 million. These aircraft are currently on lease to a European carrier and will be delivered beginning in 2018. We assumed $142 million of debt and paid $96 million to complete the transaction.
For 2015 and beyond, we have purchased or have the rights to purchase 38 additional Airbus aircraft—26 A319 aircraft with 156 seats and 12 A320 aircraft with 177 seats. These deliveries are scheduled through 2018. We continue to look for additional Airbus aircraft in the used market. During this period we will begin to retire certain numbers of MD80 aircraft and perhaps some of our 757 fleet as well.
We have been and will continue to be opportunistic buyers of additional Airbus aircraft. Our strong balance sheet/cash position gives us the ability to move quickly and negotiate attractive deals.
Our fuel burn efficiency has increased substantially in the past five years. The addition of 16 additional seats in our MD80 fleet and the increased flying with the Airbus have been the main drivers.
We have seen the 2010 average of 59 ASMs per gallon increase 19 percent to 70 ASMs this past year. During the next few years we expect this total to increase to just short of 77 ASMs per gallon as we continue to grow with our Airbus aircraft.

Last batch had between 50,000 and 60,000 cycles. Just like the vaunted 757s that were supposed to be reliable and dependable, the tired old buses will be maintained in like fashion and face the same fate. The pain for passengers and crews will continue long after the md-80s and 757s have been retired. G4's promising future.

yep, there's a reason other airlines get rid of their aircraft with lots of cycles, increased maintenance being one of them. Allegiant's view is that with their way of only flying the aircraft a few days per week the plane has years of service left in it since they will not get the number of cycles a regular airline would put on it. But as they expand operations and the flight schedule grows for all the new cities the aircraft may get more flights per week than in years past. And they have parked a few MD-80's due to consistent maintenance failures causing excessive unreliability, are robbing parts from the parked ones to service the others.
