No exact numbers, but our VP of planning (JB, insanely smart guy) told me 2 weeks ago that attrition was "a real problem" and we are losing "5% of FO's and 3-4% of captains" per year.

And just to add some fuel to the fire (pure speculation mostly)... I've been told that once you get an airbus type, it's pretty easy to get a call from Spirit, Frontier, JetBlue, etc... not that that's what most guys are looking for, but at least it's not bad news!

10% attrition for an airline that is not United, Delta, or American seems normal don't you think?

The attrition is virtually all off the bottom half of the list, despite a couple of high-profile senior pilots leaving.

i've moved up 75 numbers since i've been here and I'm more than half way up the list. there are more senior people on the way out. senior to me anyway. some of those leaving are over 50 years old with 12 years invested here. do these senior people know something the rest of us don't? personally i find this trend alarming. especially considering the positions they held in the union.

Any insight into how much hiring is going on over the next few months? Looking back at the thread, I've seen everywhere from "40 a month for the foreseeable future" (which sounds high) and only 50 more for the year (which doesn't jive with the 10% attrition). Are there set class dates that anyone can shed some light on?
Thank you

There has been about 50 hired this year not counting any in March. Last I heard was 120-150 for the year and there were classes scheduled out to May.

May is the last month for the AA furloughed pilots to declare if they are returning to AA? Is that what you are saying?
