Well to quote this article, “The FAA views maintenance very seriously, and it will not hesitate to take action against companies that fail to follow regulations”.

So I guess we know this doesn't really happen at FAA!

See there's the difference. Swa may blow off required mx but they don't cancel because of it....... I kid I kid.

How are 44 aircraft "operated" on anything less than 44 flights?

This is a false premise propagated by certain elements within the company. If you look at the publicly reported financial reports, you'll see the vast majority of ALGT revenue comes from airline tickets and associated fees (baggage and drinks).

600 aircraft versus 60. 3500 flights per day versus what, on average based on their schedule 50?

Yeah ALG emergencies declared and MX are right on par (based on number of RASM, CASM and sarcasm) with SWA and others in the industry.

Apples to Zebras it is!!

But management says Allegiant doesn't have any more engine failures/in flight shut downs than Delta does on their MD-88's or American on their MD-80 fleet.

They wouldn't lie, would they????
