SWA were telling pax in MCO last Wednesday that they couldn't get them a flight to DEN until Saturday at the earliest.

Well at least they were in MCO, and for the right price, they could go buy a ticket on UAL, or Frontier, or .... that was the only point I was trying to make.

SWA has largely abandoned the suburban airports (save LUV and HOU) in favor of city airports as they too decided to chase more business traffic. Now SWA serves LGA, DCA, etc.

No airline is perfect and with load factors near 90% all the time, there is little room for failure of even one flight in the system.

You do know there was a blizzard in DEN last week and the airport was shut down. I don't think I'd equate that to Allegiant's horrific MX issues. Comparing Apples to Zebras.

The only thing apples to zebras about it is that SWA has over 20 flights a day out of MCO and does connecting flights. The guy was *****ing that only AAY strands people for days after a cancellation and mentioned that SWA does not. Wasn't DEN open by 1600 that day?

Allegiant barely qualifies as an airline anyway. They are the flight subsidiary of a vacation/travel company.

No I think it was about controllable delays; WX (apples) and horrific MX (Zebras). Yes DEN was open later that day but I think you forget that there's a domino effect. I doubt SWA left their aircraft sitting somewhere waiting for the snow to clear wherein ALG has planes sitting because they're broken.

Have any of the prospective new hires on here taken that "aviation skills assessment" yet? I saw a few people ask about it last week. My understanding is that it's something brand new they just started, so any details would be awesome. Thanks!

Don't have any info about the assessment but a few bad apples have made it through lately with an attitude that they are doing Allegiant a favor by coming here. The majority of new hires have been great pilots and people but those bad apples have made the priority of hiring to remove those that have that characteristic.

Bad apples as in bad flying skills or crappy attitudes? Just wondering, since this is a skills assessment.
It stinks that they're getting people in the door like that, though. I'm sure they're less than pleasurable to fly with.
Thanks for the reply. If I can get in the door, I'll make every effort to be in the "great guy to work with" group.
