Crews put out engine fire on Allegiant plane - FOX5 Vegas - KVVU

A McCarran International Airport spokesperson told FOX5 that a small fire in one of the plane's engines was reported at 1:22 p.m. Sunday. The plane was scheduled to depart for Fresno but was parked when the fire started.

All passengers and crew were evacuated from the plane and bussed back to the terminal.

Chief Eric Newman with Clark County Fire said the fire started in one of the engine's compartments and was put out fairly quickly.

This crew will now enter the evil world of the “Safety Department”. The safety department's sole function at Allegiant is to place the blame on the crew, thereby alleviating all liability by the company. Safety department is interested in all things but safety. Will they fire this captain, like they did the PIE captain? Now comes the inquisition of accusations and threats vis-a-vis the “Safety De-Brief”, Hanoi HIlton style. These clowns in the safety department will sit back in their cubicle dissecting every data point and look for any crew mistakes to hang em high.

Doesn't seem to be a problem at American and Delta. The union put out a good representation of engine related percentages, comparing with AMR and DL. Why the faa does not shut down the maintenance department and hit the reset button on this place is pure negligence.

Gallagher co-founded Allegiant, where the model worked spectacularly well until a 2016 crash that resulted primarily from misconduct by the maintenance contractor and from Allegiant's failure to properly oversee the contractor, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.

I copied and pasted that from the Forbes article. Change 3 words and it's a very plausible scenario.

I'm not all doom and gloom about Allegiant but there are some serious issues here and many won't be fixed with a contract we are fighting for.

Gallagher can tell some whoppers. He repeatedly disavows all responsibility whenever he talks about Valujet. There’s some corporate circle jerk video that use to be on the Allegiant university site, which he is discussing the days of Valujet. The lies of revisionist history this guy can spin is amazing. In light of the NTSB ruling which clearly contradicts his statements. If you guys can still find it it's hilariously alarming. Like he’s trying the Jedi mind trick or something. Kinda like what he tries with the pilots.
