My guess is the trips. In LAX, the 321s do Hawaii. LGA/LAX 321s have the transcon that is presumed to be a posh trip (it's nice, but I don't see any reason to salivate). However, DCA and MIA (at least to my understanding) have more of the Caribbean on the 737 than the 320s. Not sure that helps...

In LAX the 320 only has LAX flying while the 737 flying is relatively evenly split between 3 co-domiciles. LAX/SNA/ONT are roughly an hour apart in good traffic, and there isn't much good traffic in LAX these days. Covering those three airports when you're not senior enough to get decent trips is rough. Covering those three airports when you're not senior enough to hold a line is even worse. So unless you live in base your quality of life is going to be much better on the 320 than the 737 in LAX.
I'd also wager that there are a bunch of pilots who live in PHX and CLT that bypass a 737 CA until they can hold a 320 CA seat which will eventually let them transfer back home without waiting out a seat lock.

It’s ok to just say you are wrong. Being new is ok too International Division is required at AA to do those routes. It’s in your FOM even. Basically if it’s originating in the US and goes to a foreign country and it’s over water it’s international for divisions. I.e Cancun, Cozumel, San Juan, etc. Hawaii even and Alaska.

#GotSmug? If anyone ever did something to deserve an "OK Boomer", I think I just found it.
Yes I was mistaken, 737/DCA is DOM only. Yes I was mistaken, the overwater Caribbean is INT. Yes I am new, thank you for showing me the errors of my way, AAll Mighty Sky CAAptain. Feel better?
