You realize if airlines were really practicing social distancing blocking the middle seat wouldn't be doing it. It would realistically have to be every other row.

No airline in the world would do that.

There's no such things as social distancing on an airplane. Blocking middle seats are just theatrics.

Social Distancing is good for the current period. Although, pax seated in front and back, left and right, yields less than 3 feet, which does not come close to the CDC’s social distancing recommendations. Blocking the middle seat is a Dog & Pony show. Recirculated air continue to carry particulates, no matter how often the HEPA filters are changed.

To meet CDC’s recommendation of social distancing, the airline would have to, at the very least, stagger rows with center seat blocking, say every even and odd row on the left and right side respectively.

Although it could be a win win for all. Airline wants to move the same number of pax? Increase frequencies to destinations... Reduced operating costs with lighter loads... Reduced furloughs. And, the paradigm of that warm and fuzzy feeling is created for the passengers... Great PR!

I’d never mock customers, they keep food on the table. I’m just curious. I’ve been asking buddies in other fields what their company policies are about flying. You usually don’t see people in other lines of work on this forum.

not whining Einstein, just a customer voicing an opinion. Not out of the blue , I was perusing the thread and voicing a concern, I know as pilots you (we)have zero impact on decisions made many levels above your pay grade , but thanks for making my decision on who to fly on easier ,cheers .

I’d like to challenge any customer concerned about social distancing and the occupied middle seat to get a tape measure out and measure the distance between the aisle seat and the window seat (about 18 inches) and the distance between any seat and the seat in front of them (about 27 inches) social distancing on an airplane is impossible.
