Wow, a sincere apology from someone on the interwebs...a rare sight indeed. Thanks and apology accepted (from me at least). I think what you are seeing are very tense moments from everyone in the industry which leads to a short fuse. Also, as an AA guy, I think we are all tired of our name being viewed so poorly. The last few years of terrible customer service and reliability (which MOSTLY wasn’t the pilot group’s fault), has crushed our name. We all want to be proud of our employer and it’s upsetting to be constantly reminded to the contrary. In fact, I’m at a family reunion right now and my aunt flew in on AA. She made sure to tell me that she does not like AA and it was only due to the route/timing/double-the-price on her preferred airline. She had a perfectly fine experience but the damage has been done over the years.

Unfortunately, this reputation will be with us for years and us AA folks will have to find pride in our company without affirmation from others. I personally think our Covid response is an example of that. I think our response has been good within the company and rational external to the company but I understand the sentiment of those like you who “feel” better with the middle seat open. It’s just not financially responsible for the company. I can’t see any company continuing to do so once the federal money dries up and furloughs in October. No one can continue to operate at a loss by choice for long, regardless of the good PR.

Either way, thanks for the classy apology. We all will make it through this, it’s just a matter of how long and how bad it is.

Yup, few years ago. Now we aren’t the best going in, or best trained on the way out. Lol

Well, I WAS super proud of my greaser with a 319 in CLT last week, and thought about starting a new thread about the subject.

GSW did have a sign that said “The greatest pilots in the world pass through these doors.” You’re saying I’m not the greatest?

you get a greaser in a 320 on 18L send me a DM because I can’t do it to save my life.

No need imho. We are all dealing with the unknown. It’s rough but you have your perspective and our customers views matter. The world is just seeing fault lines and the Internet doesn’t help per se. all the best to you guys/gals. One day operation enduring cluster****** will end we can all take a collective deep breath.

Whoever is at the top in any given situation is always the prime target. Currently, and for the foreseeable future AA is at the top and taking aggressive measures while everyone else is sitting back.

That makes us a target for everyone else.

What? "Currently and for the foreseeable future, AA is at the top and taking aggressive measures while everyone else is sitting back."

Man things must be getting back to normal. Monday I was in clt and heard them asking for volunteers on a flight. $300 vouchers. we definitely are back our normal biz of selling more seats than we have :)

My last trip I didn’t have a single flights that wasn’t 90-100% full. Every leg. Tickets have to be dirt cheap.
