How would you rationalize this? More people have died than the average would have over the last 5 years.

She literally has said the exact opposite of that.

It goes on to say that it is very difficult to separate a death from say heart disease from a Covid death.
This part is conjecture from me becasue the article doesn’t say it but it reads like they still call all Covid positive deaths Covid and then have to go back later and correct it.

Is she though? That article says they are “trying.”

So two things from what I have read we are most likely missing one in 5 to one in ten infections so anywhere from 350-500k cases a day right now. This virus puts about 18-20 percent of all lab confirmed patients in the hospital. Look I just want to keep my job but it is obvious that we have to get containment on this thing for that to happen. Schools where I live are already the re closing for the fall. I guess my point is we can either do the hard work and get containment or we can continue to debate everything and let this virus keep running at full speed and watching our bookings keep dropping. So if wearing a mask or a clown suit for that matter will get this thing in check then I am in. Also one thing to some of the numbers remember this virus causes blood clotting and neurological symptoms independent of respiratory severity. So what may look like at right heart attack death or stroke may have been caused by COVID.
20% of all confirmed patients are in the hospital? Yesterday there were 77,000 cases so 16,000 went into the hospital? I find that hard to believe. We’d have tents at every street corner if that were the case.
As the scientists and math claim... this is the flu. Dr. Fauci says so himself. If the media actually reported 100% of the story instead of just the 10% that scares everybody it would be better to just let this play out as it wouldn’t be much worse than it is already. This could be over in 1-2 months. But since the media wants people to live in fear we have to cater to the people that think covid is certain death and drag this thing on for the next year or however long it takes to get a vaccine and have everyone at risk of losing their jobs. Even though, the end result will be something similar either way. Governor Cuomo even stated 66% of New York Covid patients were people obeying stay at home orders. So what did the lockdown really do?

“I mean, people always say, well, the flu does this, the flu does that,” Fauci said. “The flu has a mortality of 0.1 percent. This has a mortality rate of 10 times that. That’s the reason I want to emphasize we have to stay ahead of the game in preventing this."

She goes on to say they’re trying to correct it, but so far I have found nothing that says they updated their numbers. Colorado did fix theirs and it went down 25%. Dr. Birx has also mentioned they do this on a national level. So even if Illinois did correct their numbers... how many other states haven’t yet?

She literally said the same thing in the same article you posted. And I quote... “There are also some additional deaths that happen in someone who happened to be COVID positive, but where the COVID infection had nothing to do with the deaths,”

Literally, here’s the rest of that paragraph you cherry picked:
”“So we are at IDPH trying to remove those obvious cases where the COVID diagnosis was not the reason for the death. If there was a gunshot wound, if there was a motor vehicle accident, we know that that was not related to the COVID positive status.
“We are trying to make sure that things that aren’t related at all to the COVID diagnosis are removed, but if someone has another illness, like heart disease, and then had a stroke or other event, it’s not as easy to separate that and say COVID didn’t exacerbate that existing illness. That would not be removed from the count,” she added.
See how the narrative changes when you include the whole story?? I bet you chirp at the media for that, don’t ya?

Took me three seconds to find this. It was the third article that came up in the search engine when I searched “IDPH adjusted Covid deaths”. If you want to verify and then go after states for not doing the right thing, I’m all for it. More accurate data is better for all of us. But what you’re doing now is far from that.
