I’ve had more cheese the past four months than the rest of my life combined. Probably a pound a trip.

These new crew meals so to speak are disgusting. There's not even age statements on any of it.

I’m afraid the next generation will be no different. For some reason I read The Line. It’s not healthy. The battles that happen there are really sophomoric and petty. Why these people battle the way they do is beyond me. I find the AArena much more palatable. Moderators are quick to stop political stuff.

As for senior people not caring about the junior people. That will never change. I suppose I am one of the old senior pilots now however I feel the pain of our junior pilots. I hope we can mitigate many of the possible furloughs. Hang in there.

I've always said we need to get rid of the longevity scales in our contracts. A national seniority list will never happen. It never seemed fair to me that a new hire 737 first officer made way less than a 12 year 737 first officer doing the exact same job. We need a national pay scale. Then you can start over without the enormous pay hit. Vacation and sick leave could still go on longevity. Bidding still by seniority, but to me the hourly rate should be identical for guys flying in the same seat. This would also keep startups at bay. These days all startups start under the same premise. Take advantage of the labor cost advantage you get from hiring all new employees.

We have pilots saying they love longevity, but think all seats at an airline should pay the same (like UPS). This is backwards if you ask me. Anyhow, like a national seniority list, it will never happen.

Thanks, buddy. I know there's plenty of you out there. I for one will definitely pay it forward down the line when I'm a senior guy and the junior pilots are facing the next storm.

I come from an airline family and I understand many guys have been through the ringer, but to go through any type of hardship and come away thinking that it’s some type of right of passage and to feel no sympathy is pathetic.

I think the new cadre will be better human beings.
Yeah this. I don’t have any kids and the wife makes good money. That said I have plenty of friends Here that are new moms and dads and they are the only income earner. I don’t want to see the stress this will cause their families.

You could have done everything right and still be screwed. Put money away, bought a house well within your means, retirement savings.... there is no way to be early in your career and be prepared for this.

What makes it even better is the people who think we can get jobs lined up for October. No one will hire you when you don't even know if you'll be available. No one will hire you when they know you will be recalled within two years. No regional is hiring. There are very few jobs available that pay better than a CFI. We will be hosed, and anyone convincing themselves otherwise is just trying to make themselves feel better about what they're about to do.

I know. I think to the bigger topic sometimes lack of empathy is a huge problem with society as a whole. Same as the young guys who were eyeing the triple from their 737 window on probation. Have empathy for the guys who’s career didn’t work out the way they planned.

I eye the metro bus drivers from my 737 window.

Just a little suggestion to every APA pilot on here...please consider adding a paycheck donation to the APA Emergency Relief and Scholarship Fund. It can very easily be set up as a payroll deduction by just using the link in one of the latest APA emails. Hopefully they money can help some of our brothers and sisters through this soon to be very hard time. I never post stuff like this but it seems like a good way to prove that we all care about each other by more than just words. Thanks....for what its worth I am not in the 2500 and this is not me personally soliciting help for myself...
