I'm one of those people, I'm doing everything in my power to come up with a new plan to avoid selling my home. My wife if looking at going back to work. I'm sleeping 2-4 hours a night.

I have never been this stressed in my life. Barely made enough money for a reasonable amount of time to have a savings let alone a large savings. Thanks for the empathy. It does make it better to know people are worried about us.

I'm in the same situation, man. I've already come to the conclusion that if it comes to furlough, we'll have to sell our house. Even with my wife going back to work, together we won't make even half of my current salary. Not even close to what I made at the Regionals even.

Yeah..I've been getting no sleep for a while either. If you need to talk, shoot me a PM. I'll give you my number. We'll make it through this

We have 4 kids 6 and under, and one income. My wife and I are terrified. I too don’t sleep much lately, I’m constantly thinking about what I can do when it finally happens.

I assume you have begun to explore corporate/charter jobs near you just in case? How is that market these days? Asking for a friend....

Corporate, charter, cargo...nobody right now is touching 121/furloughed guys. They know that once recalled that those guys will be gone. Which makes this whole deal even more desperate. Any pilot that gets thrown to the street isn’t going to be able to find any kind of flying gig short of a CFI job.

A lot of us have been where you guys are right now and understand how you're feeling. April's fool day 2009 was my date... gone for a year and a half. Not terribly long compared to others here. And this was after being on reserve for 5 years so I never was making great money, and had a five and a two year old at the time. Luckily my wife worked and we had a little saved to help me take over a broken down pet grooming business since there was absolutely NO flying jobs to be found. Let me tell ya... going from flying multi-million dollar planes down to washing dog's asses is quite a humbling experience. The point to all this is... somehow you'll find a way to get though it. This will pass and things will improve.

I have a lot of buddies at DAL/AA. Living high on the hog for the last few years. Sad to see the down turn- hope they can all hold on.

I’m in the same boat with you. Been in aviation 13 years and made decent money maybe 2 of it. Just starting to get out of the financial hole the first 11 put me in. Took a pay cut this year to come here and if the furlough actually happens, it will cause me to have to use the little savings and retirement I do have. If it last longer than a year I’ll be completely broke.

Hang in there folks.

I was never furloughed, but US Air was on death's door for years while my kids were young. My wife didn't work. Ended up going through a divorce at the low point, 2004 after taking more than a 60% pay cut from A320 captain back to A320 F/O, with all the pay rate cuts. Retirement terminated, 60% of net worth gone.

At times the walls seemed to be closing in. One day one of my favorite captains told me something very simple "Remember, even this is only temporary." Those simple words helped me realize that I had no idea what was around the corner and I couldn't do anything about it. I would adapt. I'm not saying this to minimize that anyone is facing, it just helped me.

I will be pulling for ALL our pilots and will do what I can to keep us all. PM if you needs someone to talk to, and please use Project Wingman if needed. They are a great resource and have helped many pilots here.

Take care.
