My goal is CLT so I’m gonna have to commute initially anyways. I know LGA won’t be fun but hopefully it’s short lived.

Most likely will get CLT on your first vacancy. Everything was available on this most recent vacancy that closed to anyone hired in jan/Feb.

Not quite true. Quite a few people left out of CLT on the 737 who were hired in January/February. But it’ll happen soon enough.

737..yes but we aren't talking about the 73. Just the bus. Good amount of jan/Feb new hires got CLT 320

What is the difference between the Airbus International and Boeing International routes from MIA?

I’ve been flying a lot to the Caribbean but I never see AA Airbus … except for SJU

If flown to a bunch of Caribbean places with the bus and had some nice layovers but supposedly the 73 does more and has the better layovers.

Sorry about the incredibly stupid question ( Jokes are allowed)

But what this Class drops mean?
How many spots is available in each base ?? Or how many pilots bided for that base?

The number available is right next to the base and fleet. Those numbers will match the number of people in each class. Oldest bids first.

ooof, what variety lol. The good news is it looks like they are bumping up class sizes before the break as well as after (which they already stated). 58 slots.

I knew that’s what they would do as soon as I saw June cancellations. AA still needs the pilots. It’s just a way to subvert contractual obligations. At least this time, the guys “getting screwed” are making a lot of money getting screwed. lol.

They have to flow a certain amount of wholey owned regional pilots every month they hire pilots per their contracts with those groups. Regionals are having staffing issues, including the WO regionals. Take a month off of hiring and no contractual obligation to flow pilots from the WO that month, relieving staffing issues there. Increase class sizes in other months and AA still hires the same number of total pilots, the difference being fewer of them have to come from their WO regionals. AAG has done this in the past and I’ve always considered this practice a bit of dirty trick that doesn’t live to the spirit of their contractual obligations. But those groups are so highly paid right now ($214/hr base plus some other incintivised pay plus some bonuses), I bet some (not all of course), are not too disappointed this time. In essence, one can enjoy getting screwed.

Yep, I won't shed one tear for someone making $450 an hour.

Yeah, I was about to dispute the $450 per hour number because it’s not really an accurate portrayal, but when you consider the various bonuses and overrides and 300% OT and whatnot, I bet actual pay for most 6 year WO captains is pretty close to the equivalent of $450 per hour mainline pay at the end of the month.

There is only a very small number of WO pilots making the $214 a hour. It’s only those that have been there more than five years and haven’t had a chance to flow yet. If you decline the flow, your pay will drop significantly, unless you are an LCA. The only ones making $428 an hour are LCAs, while instructing (though likely most of their flying), and many of them are choosing to stay anyway. As far as the 300% OT, that is gone at Envoy at least, as they get transitioned to a single fleet type.

But it is still a back door way to keep an everyone at the WOs that decided they want to go to AA so they could still live in base there another month. But that’s also more incentive for those on the edge to go elsewhere.

That was mainly a tongue in cheek reply for a request to expand on a semi tongue in cheek post (I'm guessing he's not familiar with AAG WO flow dynamics). But anyone that's within a year of flow and have selected the option to flow is making $214 per hour, I'm not sure I'd call that small but, anyway, that's essentially who we're talking about when it comes to a month pause in hiring (and the CA's not within a year of flowing are making something like $160-$165/hr and FOs with 750 hours also making CA pay, not bad). And then there's the bonus that's tied to the previous two years flying that was signed less than two years ago so it's prorated so those stuck an extra month get an extra $2k or so. Then there's the OT, not much 300% anymore, right, but there's still 200% in some places and any OT is a minimum of 150% (at Envoy). And all that is just for a lowly line pilot, not someone with special status like line check airman or sim check airman and there seem to be a lot of those given all the training that's going on.

ImSoSuss 04-29-2023 12:47 PM

Then maybe have your guys stop bragging about making $500 to $800 an hour on the last trip they just picked up when riding our jumpseats. Believe me, it does not go over as well as you think it did and usually ends up on our Facebook forum on how misguided our Corporate Overlord's priorities are right now. They can throw all this money at the WOs but can't agree to our terms on a long overdue contract? Again, not shedding a tear at the June class pause.

lol, yeah, I’m not at Envoy anymore and I don’t think pitch is either.

As far as bragging on pay on the jumpseat goes? I hope that riled some feathers. Remember, almost all WO pilots will spend more time at AA than they will at their WO. They would rather see AAG focus resources here than there. That olive branch was extended but was refused though. So here we are. If people here get ****ed off… well, they should be.

It usually comes out via email to those in the class on Thursday afternoon, and sometimes Friday morning before class.

My tin foil hat interferes with my reception of fb products like whatsapp. Any chance I can persuade folks to start using Signal?

But there are no classes in June because they “are backed up”…

Maybe they are backed up because they have been stacking all the classes since it was announced there would be no classes in June???
