PHL Base

PHL guys, how do you like the base?. I’m MIA but considering either PHL or DFW. Long term DFW wins because of their WB flying (I miss Japan/South Korea flying), but short term I think the XLR could be a good thing.
MIA flying is great but Southern Florida is not my cup of tea that’s all.

PHL is great. Solid variety of flying on the Bus. Anything specific?

I'm going to be based in PHL for 2.5-3 months. Any recommendations or leads on private or shared rooms? Are there certain areas that I should look in or places to avoid? I'm new to commuting and have never done the crash pad thing. Also not familiar at all with PHL. Any and all advice is welcome. Thanks!

FWIW I did look at the PHL trips and at least the ones I was holding (around 10 years here) every single one ended with a red-eye.

Day turns are great too but those go pretty senior obviously.

The day trips are available; you won't get them awarded, but some in the top 15 FOs routinely drop their turns and you can pick them up to augment your schedule.

Then PHL is your cup of tea. True transcons are diminishing; the LAX and SEA 1-1s seem to be less and less. But, I'm the same as you. I like transcons. Plenty of long legs in PHL. Most of my trips have more NEOs than not. Plenty of 1 leg days. As said earlier, if you commute, plenty of trips with trailing redeyes. But also, if you dont want them, you can avoid them.
