Many didn’t vote for their base reps so I don’t see them showing up to vote for a union. If they don’t care who represents us, them voting yes could make a big difference.
I am one of those that don’t give two ******s who represents us. But I do vote.

I have been told it would be unethical for ALPA National to tell AA pilots why we should support the merger efforts. But honestly, until I hear why from someone other than AA pilots about why we should switch, I won’t be convinced.

If ALPA National can’t/won’t create a campaign to court us, then I would need a third-party, deep-dive explanation of the pros and cons to make an informed decision.

My friends at UA and DAL all gripe about the same things we do with regard to their union/leadership.

So, I am in the “devil you know” camp.

But I am just one vote… so who cares, right?

But do your UA/DL friends complain about how weak their NC was during the last contract negotiations? That's my biggest issue with APA - how underpowered our NC is regardless of who's chairing it.

Were you here during covid?

During S6? If yes for how much of it?

The ones at UA definitely complained about their first contract offer. So much so so that they recalled their board and had to start over. Some even thank AA for that.

No, not during Covid.

Only for the end of S6 (3 1/2 years), but long enough to have a vote on the contract.

But, with the way your reply comes across, I guess I’m too junior to understand.

It still doesn’t change my perspective.

But ALPA needs to change its way of doing business to placate APA? Sure.

APA is going to overplay its hand and ALPA will walk away at some point. And that’s ok.
And that's okay that is okay.

How is their pay and QOL compared to yours?

Not just weakness but their insistence on only concentrating on what the top 15% of the seniority list wanted while purposely and willfully skewing survey results to reflect that was the top priority of the whole pilot group.

well, their pay is the same as mine, and as for QOL, I’m 30% in DFW- my QOL is great. I bid what I want and I get it, and I commute, so I feel like I’m ahead on that one- better rules.

So it was only your seniority that got your quality of life, is that what you are saying? Did APA do anything to improve QOL for the whole pilot group? How many more pilots did AA have to hire to cover the same amount of flying under the new contract? Did you know both UA and DL had to hire more pilots to cover the same amount of flying? That is the single best indicator of significant QOL gains.

In your little survey group of friends from different airlines, how is their profit sharing? How are they enjoying the other massive gains they got in their last contract?

It's these "everything is fine for me" people who live in their own little shells on why we will never see significant improvement in our union or catch up to UA/DL.
