First come first served seems to make logical sense

Also relying on jump seat is kinda pretty stupid


Thinking of the 20yr seniority 300lb 121 CA melt down over this in his orthopedic shoes kinda makes me giggle

We have more then wholly owned carriers flying our Regional lift. So another strike again the horrible generalization of "Eagle". Again, being out of touch.

meh, if you’re going to put your name across the side of their planes and make them say “thanks for flying American” might as well let them have the same crappy dead seat as a actual American Airlines guy 🤷‍♂️


As someone who flys in the back of these things for work, I’ve had less broke down planes with eagle vs American, so priorities might need to be adjusted

Yup it’s ridiculous. And it sounds like FAs bad service is tanking the new 787 premium product too.

Number one complaint I hear from passengers is unfriendly service from FAs. Some are great, but it’s always a gamble. No quality control

This is also due to running the absolute bare minimum staff for the WB flights. So some blame on the company there too.

But I do want to piggyback with what else has been said and say that it’s ridiculous that we have another work group here that is actively negotiating OUR negotiated benefits away because “me too.” Also, trying to hold up an argument that it’s our fault, not an FAA mandate, that we won’t let them occupy the FDJ because we’re greedy pilots.

Management is loving it and playing us all like fiddles. Let’s also not forget when mgmt tried to get us to do the mechanics jobs too, thankfully both unions shut that down quick.

I understand how this is a terrible set up. But I don't get why everyone wants to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

I wish it was seniority based, but only 48h prior. This prevents seniority jerks from screwing you over last min. But honors seniority. The company wouldn't be where it was without them here, they deserve it.

When I'm senior, i woul love to book a flight 3 days prior and see where im at on the list. Knowing the only ones who can get ahead of me is D1 if I used a D2, or if I used my D1, I know its mine as long as no rev pax show up.

But giving 20 or 30 years to a company, being unable to legally check in (due to operating and making money for the comoany....) and some desk jockey gets a spot before me is just as BS as a purely seniority based system.

But if no one reserved a spot 24h prior, then it should be check in time.

That gives those flying an opportunity to check in 30h or 48h prior (or sometime before takeoff).

That would make a lot more sense, and would be great.

I posted that sad tale above because that exact thing happens at UA. I would even put in a JS request 5-7 days earlier to broadcast my intent, and the same Dbags would show up 30 mins prior to bump me at their convenience.

and the contractors are a lower priority than company D1, D2, & D3’s so their check in time is meaningless except to other contractors. A non issue there
