Default AA Guys being stubborn with j/s

Why do a few senior people get to make the choice for a jumpstart system?

Reading that email I don't think the senior pilots are making any choice. They obviously want a seniority system where as the other 75% (+/-) of pilots on property would want a reservation system. A res system is a great way to go, hopefully management running the show will stick with that (sounds like they are leaning toward it). I would assume it's management's choice on how the implementation is going to happen (yes/no?), not the top xx% of the pilots. It was after all management who decided the new boarding priority levels, sticking all non wholly owned carriers below mainline buddy passes even on their own aircraft.

Senior guys selling out the junior guys has always been the M.O at AA.

I know I am one of many that supports the USAir j/s system and not just because I'm relatively junior, but rather b/c it's closer to industry standard.

I think those senior AA guys need to be educated on the Airways system. This is something even the senior guys at Airways like.... Because it works.

What is considered senior at AA? At US, anything after the first half of '85 really isn't that senior. After '86, your junior. At least in the left seat of the small bus or 75. The "senior" AA guys might want to be careful what they wish for

The US Airways system is far more beneficial as it brings predictability.

This is a tremendous benefit.

I hope to god we keep the listing system.

Also, it would be in management's best interest to keep it, or else busted commutes will rise dramatically.

Last I checked a senior guy's vote counts the same as a junior guy's vote, put it to a vote!

Who said it was a group of senior guys that made the decision?

No one said (officially) that any decision has been made. Our jumpseat committee put out an update that stated they had met a fair amount of resistance from senior AA pilots who felt that a seniority-based system suits them better than a reservations system.

The reservation system is a win-win for everybody and is the most fair. It takes away 95% of the stress of commuting because you know you have the seat.
